Charles Perfetti is the director of, and Senior Scientist for, the Learning and Research Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh. His research is centered on the cognitive science of language and reading processes, including but not limited to lower- and higher-level lexical and syntactic processes and the nature of reading proficiency. He conducts cognitive behavioral studies involving ERP, fMRI and MEG imaging techniques. His goal is to develop a richer understanding of how language is processed in the brain. Cole Perfetti (born January 1, 2002) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected tenth overall by the Jets in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Growing up in Whitby, Ontario, Perfetti spent his minor hockey career with the Whitby Wildcats. As a teenager, he enrolled at The Hill Academy while also playing for the Vaughan Kings of the Greater Toronto Hockey League. In the year prior to his Ontario Hockey League (OHL) eligibility, Perfetti led them in scoring with a total of 52 goals and 73 assists for 125 points. As a result of his play, Perfetti was recruited to join the University of Michigan's men's ice hockey team but ultimately chose to join the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL.
