''Perfect Shapes'' is the second studio album by American indie rock musician Madeline Kenney. It was released on October 5, 2018 under Carpark Records. Production The album was recorded in January 2018 in Durham, North Carolina, alongside producer Jenn Wasner. Critical reception ''Perfect Shapes'' was met with "generally favorable" reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, this release received an average score of 76, based on 8 reviews. Aggregator Album of the Year gave the release a 77 out of 100 based on a critical consensus of 9 reviews. Joe Goggins of Drowned in Sound admired Kenney's vocals saying that unlike her previous album, it stood out "front and centre, ringing out honeyed and clear as a bell with only minimal effects applied", and noted the album is "so sharply made in Kenney’s own non-conformist image, and she gets away with it. Madeline Kenney is an American indie rock singer-songwriter based in Oakland, California. Early life and career Born and raised in Seattle, Kenney started playing piano at the age of five and joined multiple bands. In 2016, she released the extended play ''Signals'' and in 2017, she released her debut studio album '' Night Night at the First Landing'' on Company Records. Both the records were produced by Chazwick Bradley Bundick, also known as Chaz Bear or Toro y Moi. ''Under the Radar'' is an American music magazine that features interviews with accompanying photo-shoots. Each issue includes opinion and commentary of the indie music scene as well as reviews of books, DVDs, and albums. The magazine posts web-exclusive interviews and reviews on its website. Items are reviewed based on a rating system in which each album, book, and DVD receives a rating from 1 to 10. The magazine has been in publication since late 2001 and is issued three times per year. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean. While weighted means generally behave in a similar fashion to arithmetic means, they do have a few counterintuitive properties, as captured for instance in Simpson's paradox. Jenn Wasner
Jennifer Lynn Wasner (born April 16, 1986) is an American musician from Baltimore, Maryland. Wasner is best known as one of the founding members of the band Wye Oak, along with Andy Stack. They have performed on tour with notable bands such as The National and The Decemberists. Wasner has completed numerous other music projects as well, including a solo project entitled Flock of Dimes, and a collaboration called Dungeonesse with Jon Ehrens of White Life and Art Department. Early life Wasner was born on April 16, 1986, in Baltimore, Maryland. She began singing at an early age with her mother, and eventually started taking classical piano lessons at the around the age of five. Carpark Records is an independent record label based in Washington, D.C. History Carpark Records was established by Todd Hyman in 1999 in New York City. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock".
