Percy Coleman
Percy Edmund Creed Coleman (23 October 1892 – 25 May 1934) was an Australian union organiser and politician. Born at Surry Hills, New South Wales, Surry Hills in Sydney to Thomas Coleman and Ellen, née Creed, Coleman was orphaned when still a young child and, after a New Zealand education, went to sea at the age of 13. After three years, he was a clerk with the Sydney branch of the Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia, and by 1916 he was general secretary of the United Clerks' Union of New South Wales. Military service Despite his opposition to conscription, Coleman enrolled with the First Australian Imperial Force, Australian Imperial Force in February 1918 and served with the Royal Army Service Corps, Army Service Corps in France and England. Having been promoted to temporary sergeant by 1919, he became attached to Australia House as a lecturer. He was discharged from the armed forces in April 1920. Division Of Reid
The Division of Reid is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. It is on the south shore of Port Jackson, with Sydney to the east; it stretches from Silverwater to Rodd Point. Since 2022 its MP has been Sally Sitou of the Labor Party. History The division is named after Sir George Reid, a former Premier of New South Wales and the fourth Prime Minister of Australia. The division was proclaimed at the redistribution of 13 September 1922, and was first contested at the 1922 federal election. Under initial proposals for the 2009 redistribution, the Australian Electoral Commission proposed that the division be abolished. However, in the final proposal, the name "Reid" was retained for a division combining much of the now-abolished Division of Lowe with part of the old Division of Reid. The Federal Labor Party were the members of the Australian Labor Party in the state of New South Wales who supported the federal party leadership in the split with the state Labor party which broke away in 1931.
