Percy Abeysekera
W. D. Percy Gimson Mendis Abeysekera (30 July 1936 – 30 October 2023), known as Uncle Percy, was a Sri Lankan cricket superfan for over seven decades. His support for Sri Lankan cricket became part of Sri Lankan cricketing culture. Early life and family Percy Abeysekera was born on July 30, 1936, in the coastal town of Boossa, Sri Lanka. In 1968, Abeysekera married Meloney De Silva from Moratuwa. They had two children: Sampath Garfield, their elder son, and Nadeesh Nimmi, their daughter. Meloney died on September 24, 2010. Education He received his early education at Richmond College, Galle and St. Aloysius' College, Galle, where he developed his interest in cricket. Richmond College, Galle
Richmond College ( si, රිච්මන්ඩ් විද්යාලය) is a primary and secondary school in Galle, Sri Lanka which was established as Galle High School in 1876. The founder of school was the Wesleyan Missionary George Bough. The first principal of the school was Rev Samuel Langdon. In 1882, it was renamed Richmond College. Richmond College is the first Wesleyan Methodist school to be established in Asia. The former school of Richmond College known as the 'Galle School' dates back to July 1814. Michael Clarke (cricketer)
Michael John Clarke (born 2 April 1981) is an Australian former cricketer. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) between 2011 and 2015, leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also served as captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) side between 2007 and 2010. He is regarded as one of the best batsmen of his generation. Chaudhry Abdul Jalil (, born 8 October 1949), famously known as Chacha Cricket () (meaning 'Uncle Cricket'), is a renowned Pakistani cricket mascot. Jalil is regularly seen at cricket matches involving Pakistan. Adam Craig Gilchrist (; born 14 November 1971) is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer and captain of the Australia national cricket team. Martin Crowe
Martin David Crowe (22 September 1962 – 3 March 2016) was a New Zealand cricketer, Test and ODI captain as well as a commentator. He played for the New Zealand national cricket team between 1982 and 1995, and is regarded as one of the country's greatest batsmen.
