Peralillo Department
The Peralillo Department ( es, Departamento de Peralillo) was a proposed Chilean department in September 1972 by President Salvador Allende Gossens, with the purpose of de-centralizing the Santa Cruz Department. Peralillo was proposed as the capital of the department by the Member of the Chamber of Deputies Héctor Ríos. The communes which were proposed to form the department were the capital, Marchigüe, Pichilemu, Rosario Lo Solís (now Litueche), La Estrella and Pumanque. Rosario Lo Solís
Litueche ( arn, land of the white lands; originally called ''El Rosario'', ''Rosario Lo Solís'' or simply ''Rosario'') is a Chilean town and commune in Cardenal Caro Province, O'Higgins Region. It is served by Litueche Airport. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Litueche spans an area of and has 5,526 inhabitants (2,932 men and 2,594 women). Of these, 2,479 (44.9%) lived in urban areas and 3,047 (55.1%) in rural areas. The population grew by 1.1% (60 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. Pichilemu News
Pichilemu (, ), originally known as Pichilemo, is a beach resort city and commune in central Chile, and capital of Cardenal Caro Province in the O'Higgins Region. The commune comprises an urban centre and twenty-two villages, including Ciruelos, Cáhuil, and Cardonal de Panilonco. It is located southwest of Santiago. Pichilemu had over 13,000 residents as of 2012. The Pichilemu area was long populated by the indigenous Promaucaes. European-Chilean development began in the mid-sixteenth century, as '' conquistador'' Pedro de Valdivia gave Juan Gómez de Almagro the Topocalma encomienda (which included the current territory of Pichilemu) in January 1541. The Chamber of Deputies ( es, Cámara de Diputadas y Diputados, links=no) is the lower house of Chile's bicameral Congress. Its organisation and its powers and duties are defined in articles 42 to 59 of Chile's current constitution. Time In Chile
Time in Chile is divided into three time zones. Most of Continental Chile uses the time offset UTC−04:00 in winter time and UTC−03:00 in summer time, while the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region uses the time offset UTC-03:00 the whole year. Additionally, Easter Island uses the time offset UTC−06:00 in winter time and UTC−05:00 in summer time. Until 2015, Continental Chile used the time offset UTC−04:00 and Easter Island used UTC−06:00 for standard time, with daylight saving time roughly between October and March every year.
