People Newspapers is a Dallas, Texas-based publisher of two award-winning monthly community newspapers, ''Park Cities People'' and ''Preston Hollow People''. The two papers mail to a combined 43,700 homes and businesses in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Turtle Creek, Bluffview, Devonshire, and Greenway Parks neighborhoods. The publisher began in 1981 with the weekly newspaper ''Park Cities People.'' The newspaper was founded by Reid Slaughter and Kirk Dooley, to cover the Park Cities enclave of Highland Park and University Park. In 1989, the company began to publish a second paper, ''North Dallas People'', which was distributed free of charge in additional affluent neighborhoods. Park Cities, Texas
Park Cities is a term used in reference to two communities in Dallas County, Texas – the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park. The two municipalities, which share a border, are surrounded by the city of Dallas and comprise an enclave. As of the 2010 census, the Park Cities had a population of 31,632. The Park Cities have among the highest per capita incomes in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and Texas. Preston Hollow, Dallas
Preston Hollow is a neighborhood in North Dallas, Texas. It is bordered on the south by the city of University Park. History Beginning in the 1850s, the first settlers began receiving land grants for Preston Hollow’s land. Among them were the Lively family on Guernsey Lane, the Howell family, and the Meaders family. Other smaller farms, such as the dairy farm at 6303 Meadow, were also in Preston Hollow. In the 1920s, the first people started moving to Preston Hollow for residential purposes. Ralph Stichter was the first, purchasing many acres at the northeast corner of Preston and Walnut Hill. He built two estates on his property, one right at the corner and another at what is now 6126 Lakehurst, which still stands, in 1922. That same year, real estate developer Ira P. Turtle Creek, Dallas
Turtle Creek is a neighborhood running along Turtle Creek and adjacent Turtle Creek Boulevard in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, Texas (USA). Turtle Creek has also become an adopted nickname for the Oak Lawn neighborhood, though never an official one. The nickname also sometimes applies to a spillover of the Uptown area, which has become the official moniker for the area between downtown Dallas and Oak Lawn beginning in the 1980s. (In actuality, however, Uptown itself is a part of the Oak Lawn district, as is the Turtle Creek neighborhood.) Bluffview is a neighborhood in North Dallas, Texas ( USA). It is bounded by Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and the Preston Hollow neighborhood on the north, Inwood Road and the Devonshire neighborhood on the east, University Boulevard and the Elm Thicket/North Park neighborhood on the south, and Midway Road, Bluebonnett Road, Bluff View Blvd., and the Shorecrest and Cochran's Chapel neighborhoods on the west. He was the owner of ''D Magazine'', a monthly magazine covering Dallas–Fort Worth, which he co-founded in 1974. He was also the principal owner of People Newspapers, which he purchased in 2003.
