Penile Frenulum
The frenulum of the penis, often known simply as the frenulum (from ) or frenum, is a thin elastic strip of tissue on the underside of the glans and the neck of the human penis. In men who are not circumcised, it also connects the foreskin to the glans and the ventral mucosa. In adults, the frenulum is typically supple enough to allow manual movement of the foreskin over the glans and help retract the foreskin during erection. In flaccid state, it tightens to narrow the foreskin opening. The penile frenulum is homologous to the clitoral frenulum in the female. It is similar to the lingual frenulum between the tongue's lower surface and the lower jaw, or the frenulum between the upper lip and the outside of the upper gum. Preputial Mucosa
The preputial mucosa of the Human penis, penis is the epithelium of the inside of the prepuce, or foreskin. To differentiate it from the cutaneous Human skin, skin of the outside of the Foreskin, prepuce, it is sometimes referred to as the inner mucosa. Circumcision is a procedure that removes the foreskin from the human penis. A frenuloplasty of prepuce of penis (also known as a release of frenulum) is a frenuloplasty of the frenulum of prepuce of penis. An abnormally short or sensitive frenulum of the penis can make some types of sexual activity uncomfortable or even painful. This may be a complication of circumcision or a naturally occurring event. When it is a naturally occurring event, a short frenulum can restrict normal retraction of the foreskin during erection (a condition known as frenulum breve). The goal of treatment is to allow normal retraction of the foreskin. Circumcision may relieve this condition but is not indicated solely for treating frenulum breve. Frenulum Breve
Frenulum breve, or short frenulum, is a condition in which the Frenulum preputii penis, frenulum of the penis, which is an elastic band of tissue under the glans penis that connects to the foreskin and helps contract it over the glans, is too short and thus restricts the movement of the foreskin. The frenulum should normally be sufficiently long and supple to allow for the full retraction of the foreskin so that it lies smoothly back on the shaft of the erect penis. Septum Glandis
The septum glandis, also septum of the glans, refers to the fibrous partition of the ventral aspect of the glans penis that separates the two glans wings in the ventral midline. The septum extends from the urethral meatus through the glanular urethra ( fossa navicularis) and ends in the tunica albuginea of the human penis. Externally it is attached to the frenulum which extends lower on the neck of the penis. The septum glandis results during the embryonic development of the male fetus as the two sides of the genital tubercle merge in the midline without fusing, to form a hollow tube that encloses the male urethra. The two sides of the preputial lamina that will become the prepuce approach on the underside and remain separated by a thin tissue of mesenchyme that will form the frenulum. The perineal nerve is a nerve of the pelvis. It arises from the pudendal nerve in the pudendal canal. It gives superficial branches to the skin, and a deep branch to muscles. It supplies the skin and muscles of the perineum. Its latency is tested with electrodes. Structure The perineal nerve is a branch of the pudendal nerve. It lies below the internal pudendal artery. The dorsal nerve of the penis is the deepest of three divisions of the pudendal nerve; it accompanies the internal pudendal artery along the Ischium#Structure, ramus of the ischium; it then runs forward along the margin of the inferior ramus of the pubis, between the superior and inferior layers of the fascia of the urogenital diaphragm.
