Pella Cabinet
The Pella government was the 8th government of the Italian Republic. It held office from 17 August 1953 to 18 January 1954, for a total of 154 days (or 5 months and 1 day). President Luigi Einaudi invited Giuseppe Pella to form an interim cabinet following the fall of the Eighth De Gasperi government in a confidence vote, for the purpose of passing the budget. Giuseppe Pella
Giuseppe Pella (; 18 April 1902 – 31 May 1981) was an Italian Christian Democratic politician and statesman who served as the 31st prime minister of Italy from 1953 to 1954. He was also Minister of Treasury, Budget and of Foreign Affairs during the 1950s and early 1960s. Pella served as President of the European Parliament from 1954 to 1956 after the death of Alcide De Gasperi. Pella is widely considered one of the most important politicians in Italy's post-war history. His ''laissez-faire'' economic and monetary policies strongly influenced the Italian reconstruction and the subsequent economic miracle. Umberto Merlin (17 February 1885 – 22 May 1964) was an Italian lawyer and Christian Democrat politician who held several cabinet posts in the 1940s and 1950s. Early life and education Merlin was born in Rovigo on 17 February 1885. He was president of the Catholic Youth Club of St. Francis Association. In 1903 he became the Veneto regional president of the Association. In 1906 he obtained a degree in law from the University of Padua. Career Following his graduation Merlin worked as a lawyer. He participated in World War I with the rank of lieutenant. He was a cofounder the Italian Popular Party, but during the Fascist rule he did not involve in politics. Antonio Segni
Antonio Segni (; 2 February 1891 – 1 December 1972) was an Italian politician and statesman who served as President of Italy from 1962 to 1964, and as Prime Minister of Italy from 1955 to 1957 and again from 1959 to 1960. Paolo Emilio Taviani (6 November 1912 – 18 June 2001) was an Italian political leader, economist, and historian of the career of Christopher Columbus.
