Pedeutology () is a discipline of pedagogy, which focuses on the main role of the teacher in the educational process. It delves into the pedagogical, philosophical, psychological, and ethical aspects of teaching, as well as the practical skills and knowledge essential for teachers to be effective. Although pedeutology has strong roots and active development in European countries, its core concepts and concerns are addressed in various forms and terms worldwide. An important role in the establishment of this discipline was played by Johann Friedrich Herbart - a German philosopher, psychologist and educator, creator of "scientific pedagogy" and a pedagogical seminar in the University of Königsberg. Johann Friedrich Herbart
Johann Friedrich Herbart (; 4 May 1776 – 14 August 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of pedagogy as an academic discipline. Herbart is now remembered amongst the post-Kantian philosophers mostly as making the greatest contrast to Hegel—in particular in relation to aesthetics. His educational philosophy is known as Herbartianism. Life Herbart was born on 4 May 1776 in Oldenburg. Growing up as a fragile child because of an unfortunate accident, Herbart was taught by his mother at home until the age of 12. University Of Königsberg
The University of Königsberg () was the university of Königsberg in Duchy of Prussia, which was a fief of Poland. Georg Kerschensteiner
Georg Michael Anton Kerschensteiner (July 29, 1854 in München – January 15, 1932 in München) was a German professor and educational theorist. He was director of public schools in Munich from 1895 to 1919 and became a professor at the University of Munich in 1920. Eduard Spranger
Eduard Spranger (; 27 June 1882 – 17 September 1963) was a German philosopher and psychologist. A student of Wilhelm Dilthey, Spranger was born in Berlin and died in Tübingen. He was considered a humanist who developed a philosophical pedagogy as an act of 'self defense' against the psychology-oriented experimental theory of the times. Spranger was the author of the book ''Lebensformen'' (translated as ''Types of Men''), which sold 28,000 copies by the end of 1920. Spranger theorizes that types of human life are structures in consciousness. His belief was that personality types have a basis in biology, but can not be fully explained by biology. He wrote, "On a lower level, perhaps, the soul is purely biologically determined.
