Pebbles, Volume 6 (LP)
''Pebbles, Volume 6'' is a compilation album among the LPs in the Pebbles series. Subtitled The Roots of Mod, Volume 6 is the only album in the Pebbles series that features primarily British music. The '' Pebbles, Volume 6'' CD is not at all related to this LP; instead, the CD featuring the songs on this LP was released as ''English Freakbeat, Volume 6''. Release data The album was released in 1980 by BFD Records (as #BFD-5023) and was kept in print for many years by AIP Records. Although the '' Pebbles, Volume 6'' 1994 CD has completely different music, most of the tracks on this album were reissued in 1996 on CD by AIP Records as ''English Freakbeat, Volume 6''. For convenience, information on this CD is also included so that a comparison can be easily made between the tracks on these two highly similar albums. Garage Rock
Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. The style is characterized by basic chord structures played on electric guitars and other instruments, sometimes distorted through a fuzzbox, as well as often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery. Its name derives from the perception that groups were often made up of young amateurs who rehearsed in the family garage, although many were professional. In the US and Canada, surf rock—and later the Beatles and other beat groups of the British Invasion—motivated thousands of young people to form bands between 1963 and 1968. The Rats (British Band)
The Rats were an English rock band, first established in 1963, from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. In 1966, Mick Ronson joined The Rats, then including singer Benny Marshall, bassist Geoff Appleby, and drummer Jim Simpson (who was subsequently replaced by Clive Taylor and then John Cambridge). The group played the local circuit, and made a few unsuccessful trips to London and Paris. Peter Bardens
Peter Bardens (19 June 1945 – 22 January 2002) was an English keyboardist and a founding member of the British progressive rock group Camel. He played keyboards, sang, and wrote songs with Andrew Latimer. During his career, Bardens worked alongside Rod Stewart, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and Van Morrison. He recorded eleven solo albums. Career Bardens was born in Westminster, London, England, to Marie Marks and Dennis Bardens, the latter a novelist and biographer, and grew up in Notting Hill. He studied fine art at Byam Shaw School of Art, and learned the piano, before switching to the Hammond organ after listening to Jimmy Smith. In 1965, he spent a brief spell with Them after leaving The Cheynes. After leaving Them, he formed a band called The Peter B's, releasing a single, in 1966, called "If You Wanna Be Happy" (b/w "Jodrell Blues"), an instrumental version of the old standard. Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band, formed in London in 1967. Fleetwood Mac were founded by guitarist Peter Green (musician), Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist Jeremy Spencer, before bassist John McVie joined the line-up for their Fleetwood Mac (1968 album), eponymous debut album. Danny Kirwan joined as a third guitarist in 1968. Keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie, Christine Perfect, who contributed as a session musician from the second album, married McVie and joined in 1970, becoming known as Christine McVie. Primarily a British blues band at first, Fleetwood Mac achieved a UK number one with "Albatross (instrumental), Albatross", and had other hits such as the singles "Oh Well (song), Oh Well", "Man of the World (song), Man of the World", and "The Green Manalishi".
