Pebbles, Volume 6 (LP)
''Pebbles, Volume 6'' is a compilation album among the LPs in the Pebbles series. Subtitled The Roots of Mod, Volume 6 is the only album in the Pebbles series that features primarily British music. The '' Pebbles, Volume 6'' CD is not at all related to this LP; instead, the CD featuring the songs on this LP was released as '' English Freakbeat, Volume 6''. Release data The album was released in 1980 by BFD Records (as #BFD-5023) and was kept in print for many years by AIP Records. Although the '' Pebbles, Volume 6'' 1994 CD has completely different music, most of the tracks on this album were reissued in 1996 on CD by AIP Records as ''English Freakbeat, Volume 6''. For convenience, information on this CD is also included so that a comparison can be easily made between the tracks on these two highly similar albums. Garage Rock
Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock music that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. The style is characterized by basic chord (music), chord structures played on electric guitars and other instruments, sometimes distorted through a distortion (music), fuzzbox, as well as often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery. The Rats (British Band)
The Rats were an English rock band, first established in 1963, from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. In 1966, Mick Ronson joined The Rats, then including singer Benny Marshall, bassist Geoff Appleby and drummer Jim Simpson (who was subsequently replaced by Clive Taylor and then John Cambridge). The group played the local circuit and made a few unsuccessful trips to London and Paris. In 1967, The Rats recorded the one-off psychedelic track, "The Rise and Fall of Bernie Gripplestone" at Fairview Studios in Willerby, Hull, and can be heard on the 2008 release ''Front Room Masters – Fairview Studios 1966–1973''. 1968 saw the band change their name briefly to Treacle and book another recording session at Fairview Studios in 1969, before reverting to their original name. Peter Bardens
Peter Bardens (19 June 1945 – 22 January 2002) was an English keyboardist and a founding member of the progressive rock group Camel. He played keyboards, sang, and wrote songs with Andrew Latimer. During his career, Bardens worked alongside Rod Stewart, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and Van Morrison. He recorded eleven solo albums. Career Bardens was born in Westminster, London, England, to Marie Marks and Dennis Bardens, the latter a novelist and biographer, and grew up in Notting Hill. He studied fine art at Byam Shaw School of Art, and learned the piano, before switching to the Hammond organ after listening to Jimmy Smith. In 1965, he spent a brief spell with Them after leaving The Cheynes. Fleetwood Mac are a British-American Rock music, rock band formed in London in 1967 by the singer and guitarist Peter Green (musician), Peter Green. Green named the band by combining the surnames of the drummer, Mick Fleetwood, and the bassist, John McVie, who have remained with the band throughout its many line-up changes. Mick Fleetwood
Michael John Kells Fleetwood (born 24 June 1947) is a British musician, songwriter and actor. He is the drummer, co-founder, and leader of the rock band Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood, whose surname was merged with that of the group's bassist John McVie, John "Mac" McVie (the only two members to appear on every studio album during the band's run) to form the name of the band, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac in 1998. Born in Redruth, Cornwall, Fleetwood lived in Egypt and Norway for much of his childhood. Little Willie John
William Edward "Little Willie" John (November 15, 1937 – May 26, 1968) was an American R&B singer who performed in the 1950s and early 1960s. He is best known for his successes on the record charts, with songs such as " All Around the World" (1955), " Need Your Love So Bad" (1956), " Talk to Me, Talk to Me" (1958), " Leave My Kitten Alone" (1960), "Sleep" (1960), and his number-one R&B hit "Fever" (1956).
