Paúl Ambrosi
Vicente Paúl Ambrosi Zambrano, commonly known as Paúl Ambrosi (born 14 October 1980), is an Ecuadorian former professional footballer who played as a left-back. He spent the vast majority of his professional career at LDU Quito. Club career Ambrosi was born in Guaranda. He played for LDU Quito for most of his career. On the national level, he helped LDU Quito win three Serie A national championships, and one Serie B title. In 2008, he was a starting player on the squad that won the Copa Libertadores, the first for the club and for the country. In August 2009, he signed with Argentine club Rosario Central. He returned to LDU Quito after one season with Rosario Central. International career Ambrosi was first called up to play for the Ecuador national team on 20 August 2003, in a game friendly against Guatemala. Guaranda
Guaranda () is a city in central Ecuador. It is the capital of Bolívar province located in the Andes mountains. The city is connected by road with other hubs, including Riobamba, Babahoyo and Ambato. Guaranda is a market town located in a ''valle'' – a deep valley in the high Andes, serving a vast hinterland of agricultural settlements ("comunidades") peopled by Quechua Indians. Its climate is subtropical, with a long (May – October) dry season ("estio"). Its population is mainly mestizo, but includes many people of different ethnicities. 2008 LDU Quito Season
Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito's 2008 season is the club's 55th year in professional football, and the 47th in the top level of national football, Ecuador's Serie A. In the domestic tournament, the club unsuccessfully defended their 2007 title, finishing as the runner-up to Deportivo Quito. The club reached a level of success in international tournaments that no other Ecuadorian club has ever achieved. LDU Quito became the first Ecuadorian club to win an international title by winning their first Copa Libertadores. The CONMEBOL Recopa Sudamericana (), also known as Recopa Sudamericana or CONMEBOL Recopa, and simply as Recopa (, ; "Winners' Cup"), is an annual international club Association football, football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1988. It is a match-up between the champions of the previous year's Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, South America's premier club competitions. 2008 Copa Libertadores
The 2008 Copa Libertadores de América was the 49th edition of the Copa Libertadores, CONMEBOL's premier annual international club tournament. This marked the first year the competition was sponsored by Spanish bank Grupo Santander, Santander. As such, the competition is officially the 2008 Copa Santander Libertadores de América for sponsorship reasons. The draw took place on December 19, 2007, in Asunción. Ecuadorian club Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, LDU Quito won the competition for the first time in a final decided on penalties. The 2010 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol de la Serie A (known as the 2010 Copa Credife Serie A for sponsorship reasons) was the 52nd season of the Serie A, Ecuador's premier football league. It ran from February 7 to December 12. Emelec and LDU Quito each won the First and Second Stage, respectively, and played each other in the championship finals. LDU Quito won the first leg at home by a score of 2–0. Emelec could not overturn the deficit with a 1–0 win at home in the second leg.
