Pazi BBC
Pazi Basketball Club, also known simply as Pazi, is a Tanzanian basketball club based in Dar es Salaam. The team plays in the Regional Basketball Association (RBA) and the National Basketball League. Pazi won their first-ever national league title in 2022, and as such represented Tanzania in the Road to BAL 2024 tournament. They hosted the first round in Dar es Salaam, and behind players Dhieu Deing, Hasheem Thabeet and Baraka Athumani, Pazi advanced to the Elite 16. Dar es Salaam (; from ar, دَار السَّلَام, Dâr es-Selâm, lit=Abode of Peace) or commonly known as Dar, is the largest city and financial hub of Tanzania. 2024 BAL Qualification
The qualification for the 2024 BAL season, also known as Road to BAL 2024, was the 4th edition of the qualifying tournaments for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The tournaments were organised by FIBA Africa and are held from 3 October to 26 November 2023. The format was the same as to the previous seasons, with the competition divided in the group phase and the elite 16. In the West Division, Bangui Sporting Club won the division and became the first team from the Central African Republic to qualify. Runners-up were FUS Rabat and Al Ahly Benghazi finished third, and became the first team from Libya to qualify. In the East Division, the Cape Town Tigers took their second division title, while runners-up City Oilers qualified for a second straight season. Dynamo became the first team from Burundi to qualify. Dhieu Deing
Dhieu Abwok Deing (born 28 August 2001) is an American-South Sudanese basketball player for Dynamo of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He played college basketball for the USC Aiken Pacers, Dodge City CC Conquistadors, and UTSA Roadrunners. High school and college career Deing attended High Point Central High School and was a three-time all-conference selection, as well as a two-time all-state and all-district honoree. In his freshmen year with the USC Aiken, Deing averaged 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Deing majored in communication. He transferred to Dodge City Community College, where he averaged 19.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in his sophomore year. Hasheem Thabeet
Hasheem Thabeet (born Hashim Thabit Manka on 16 February 1987) is a Tanzanian professional basketball player for the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for UConn before being drafted second overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. His performance as a second overall draft pick has led many analysts to label him as one of the "biggest busts" in NBA history. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three.
