Paxman Musical Instruments
Paxman Musical Instruments Ltd is a British manufacturer of French horn, horns. Paxman is the instrument of choice of a number of leading British players, including Michael Thompson (horn player), Michael Thompson. Paxman was established at the turn of the twentieth century by Harry Paxman, but did not start production of horns until 1945, when no more than twelve instruments a year were made. Robert Paxman was honoured with an Order of the British Empire for his services to music. 1950 saw the arrival in England of Richard Merewether, a professional horn player whose career had started with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. As his career in England progressed, he found himself specialising more and more in the high register of the instrument. He had been working on ideas of horn design for a number of years and had researched areas of physics which he thought to be fundamental to the successful design and manufacture of such instruments. Jeremy Dickson Paxman (born 11 May 1950) is an English former broadcaster, journalist and author, born in Yorkshire. Born in Leeds, Paxman was educated at Malvern College and St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he edited the undergraduate newspaper ''Varsity (Cambridge), Varsity''. At Cambridge, he was a member of a Labour Party (UK), Labour Party club and described himself as a socialist, in later life describing himself as a one-nation conservative. Timothy Giles Paxman CMG LVO (15 November 1951 – 8 March 2025) was a British diplomat who served as Ambassador to Mexico between 2005 and 2009 and Ambassador to Spain between 2009 and 2013. Career Paxman became Ambassador to Spain on 19 October 2009. He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the 2013 New Year Honours "for services to UK interests in Spain and Mexico". Mike Paxman
Mike Paxman (born 19 December 1953) is an English multi-instrumentalist and record producer, best known for his work with Judie Tzuke, Nick Kamen, Uriah Heep and bands, Status Quo and Asia. Paxman grew up in Wiltshire, England and went to Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury. During the late 1970s, he played drums in the Salisbury-based contemporary jazz quartet Sphere, along with saxophonist Andy Sheppard, pianist Geoff Williams, and double bassist Peter Maxfield (they all had been students at BWS). He played guitar, in the studio and on tour, and wrote with singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke from the late 1970s. He co-wrote Tzuke's single "Stay with Me till Dawn" and her first album ''Welcome to the Cruise''. He wrote and produced twelve more albums working with Tzuke until the late 1990s. Stephen Paxman
Stephen Paxman (born 4 December 1970) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club and the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
