Paws Land
''Paws Land'' () is a 2024 Hong Kong documentary directed by Au Cheuk-man. The film is 107 minutes in length, and premiered on 27 October 2024 at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival. It documents the rescue efforts of the local non-profit animal protection organization Paws Guardian Rescue Shelter from 2019 to 2023, revealing the harsh realities faced by stray animals in Hong Kong. The film is set to release theatrically on 10 July 2025 in Hong Kong. Synopsis For humans, home is a warm refuge; for stray animals, however, it is a distant and often unreachable dream. Au Cheuk-man
Au Cheuk-man (born April 26, 1975), nicknamed A-men, is a Hong Kong-born film director, screenwriter, and actor. He is a former actor and television host at Hong Kong Cable Television. Background Early Life Au Cheuk-man studied at St. Francis Xavier’s School in Tsuen Wan before enrolling in the School of Drama at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he completed a diploma program in acting. He also took part in the 3rd Directors' Training Program organized by the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild. Au later pursued a directing course at the New York Film Academy in the United States and studied Fine Arts for a year at Blake College in London. Sebastian Poon Wan-fung (born 30 May 1978), also known as his stage name "Tong Hing", is the guitarist and songwriter of the Hong Kong-based band Sugar Club. Biography Sebastian Poon worked as a computer cartographer and guitar teacher before signing WOW Music. In 2007, Sebastian decided to form the band Sugar Club with Kandy Wong, who was introduced by his friend. A paw is the soft foot-like part of a mammal, generally a quadruped, that has claws. Common characteristics The paw is characterised by thin, pigmented, keratinised, hairless epidermis covering subcutaneous collagenous and adipose tissue, which make up the pads. These pads act as a cushion for the load-bearing limbs of the animal. The paw consists of the large, heart-shaped metacarpal or palmar pad (forelimb) or metatarsal or plantar pad (rear limb), and generally four load-bearing digital pads, although there can be five or six toes in the case of domestic cats and bears (including giant panda). Kwu Tung () is an area in the northern New Territories, west of Sheung Shui and Fanling, and east of Lok Ma Chau and San Tin, in Hong Kong.
