Paulo Machado
Paulo Ricardo Ribeiro de Jesus Machado (born 31 March 1986) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. Formed at Porto, he amassed Primeira Liga totals of 103 matches and eight goals over five seasons, in representation of as many clubs. He also competed professionally in France, Greece, Croatia and India, winning the national championship twice each with Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb. Machado won six caps for Portugal, making his first appearance in 2010. Paulo Maurício Silva Machado (born July 24, 1978 in Piracicaba, São Paulo) is a Brazilian swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. Macahdo is a former member of the Tennessee Volunteers and a graduate of liberal arts and sciences at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. Machado qualified for two swimming events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by attaining a FINA A-standard entry time of 56.19 (100 m backstroke) from the national championships in Rio de Janeiro. In the 100-metre backstroke, Machado challenged seven other swimmers on the third heat, including Olympic veterans Derya Büyükuncu of Turkey, Eduardo Germán Otero of Argentina, and Gordan Kozulj of Croatia. He edged out Otero to take the seventh spot by 0.21 of a second with a time of 57.07 seconds. Paulo Machado de Carvalho (9 November 1901 – 7 March 1992), was a Brazilian businessman, journalist and football chairman. Biography Graduated from Faculdade do Largo São Francisco, Paulo Machado de Carvalho assumed a prominent position in the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution, where he was patron and founder of Rádio Sociedade Record, based near Praça da República. He participated in the first radio news broadcasts in Brazil alongside Assis Chateaubriand. In 1944, he acquired Rádio Panamericana, now Jovem Pan. In 1953, he participated in the founding of Rede Record television. Carvalho was the first businessman to organize a media conglomerate in Brazil, years before Roberto Marinho and Grupo Globo. Paulo Machado de Carvalho Filho (April 25, 1924 – September 14, 2010) was a Brazilian businessman and impresario who founded Jovem Pan Radio, which is based in São Paulo. He was also known as Paulinho Machado de Carvalho. He served as the first president of the Associação Brasileira das Emissoras de Rádio e Televisão (ABERT). ''Terra Networks'' has called him one of the most important people in the history of Brazilian media. Filho was born in São Paulo, the son of Paulo Machado de Carvalho (1901–1992), who founded Rádio Record in 1932. Filho worked at for several years, until the company was sold to Edir Macedo.
