Paulino Uzcudun
Paulino Uzcudun Eizmendi (3 May 1899 – 5 July 1985) was a Basque Spanish heavyweight boxer, who is considered to be the greatest heavyweight from Spain. Uzkudun is the Basque spelling of his last name. He was the youngest of nine siblings. In his youth, he became an aizkolari or traditional competitive Basque wood chopper. Uzcudun, known as ''Paulino'' in the United States, was the European heavyweight champion, and he fought heavyweight champions Joe Louis, Max Baer, Max Schmeling (three times) and Primo Carnera (twice) during his career. Hans Schönrath (8 November 1902 – 10 February 1945) was a German boxer who competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics. He was born in Gronau and died near Pillau. He was drowned when the hospital ship SS ''General von Steuben'' sunk during World War II. The Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, known simply as Las Ventas , is the largest bullfighting ring in Spain, located in the Guindalera quarter of the Salamanca district of Madrid. It was inaugurated on June 17, 1931. Its seating capacity of 23,798, makes it the third-largest bullfighting ring in the world, after bullrings in Mexico and Venezuela. After the federal ban of bulfighting in Plaza México, Las Ventas is the second largest bullring in the world still in operation for its original intention. This bullring was designed by the architect José Espeliú in the Neo-Mudéjar (Moorish) style with ceramic incrustations. The seats are situated in ten "tendidos". Pierre Charles (20 March 1903 – 8 August 1966) was a Belgian boxer who was the heavyweight champion of Belgium and Europe. He held the Belgian title between 1926 and 1927, and again between 1935 and 1936, and the International Boxing Union (IBU) European title for three periods, from 1929 to 1931, 1932 to 1933, and 1935 to 1936. The Plaza de Toros Monumental de Barcelona, often known simply as La Monumental (), is a bullring in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The Poststadion is a multi-use stadium in the Boroughs and neighborhoods of Berlin, locality of Moabit of the borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany. The stadium was built in 1929 for the sports club of the German Reichspost at the site of a former Prussian Uhlan parade ground. It is adjacent to the Fritz Schloß Park. The stadium has been a designated landmark since 1990. The facility fell into disrepair during the 1980s and several attempts to renovate the stadium failed in the following decades.
