Paul Vermoyal
Pierre Paul Vermoyal (18 October 1888 – 28 September 1925) was a French stage and film actor. Biography Vermoyal was born in Braye-en-Laonnois, Aisne, Picardy. He began his career on the stages of the Grand Guignol theatre in the Quartier Pigalle area of Paris in the 1910s. His first known film appearance was in the 1916 Maurice Mariaud directed short film ''Le roi de l'étain'', produced by Pathé Frères. He would go on to appear in a number of films during the 1910s directed by Mariaud, Abel Gance, Jean Manoussi and Robert Boudrioz, among others. In 1922 he appeared in the Charles Burguet directed serial film ''The Mysteries of Paris'' as Maître Ferrand. The film serial ran in twelve installments and was based on the novel of the same name by Eugène Sue. ''The Mysteries of Paris'' (french: Les Mystères de Paris) is a novel by the French writer Eugène Sue. It was published serially in 90 parts in '' Journal des débats'' from 19 June 1842 until 15 October 1843, making it one of the first serial novels published in France. It was an instant success and singlehandedly increased the circulation of ''Journal des débats''. It founded the " city mysteries" genre, spawning many imitations. Benito Perojo
Benito Perojo González (Madrid, 14 June 1894 – Madrid, 11 November 1974) was a successful Spanish film director and film producer. Biography Son of José Perojo Figueras (1850–1908), a journalist and politician of Cuban origin, by his wife, Ana Cortina Fuentes (1871–1954). On 18 July 1966 he was honoured by the Caballero Gran Cruz de la Orden del Mérito Civil. He died in Madrid on 11 November 1974 aged 80 and he was survived by his daughter Carmen Perojo Carreras. Alice Terry
Alice Frances Taaffe (July 24, 1899 – December 22, 1987), known professionally as Alice Terry, was an American film actress and director. She began her career during the silent film era, appearing in thirty-nine films between 1916 and 1933. While Terry's trademark look was her blonde hair, she was actually a brunette, and put on her first blonde wig in ''Hearts Are Trumps'' (1920) to look different from Francelia Billington, the other actress in the film. Terry played several different characters in the 1916 anti-war film ''Civilization'', co-directed by Thomas H. Ince and Reginald Barker. Alice wore the blonde wig again in her most acclaimed role as "Marguerite" in film '' The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse'' (1921), and kept the wig for any future roles. José Ramón Gil Samaniego (February 6, 1899 – October 30, 1968), known professionally as Ramon Novarro, was a Mexican-American actor. He began his career in silent films in 1917 and eventually became a leading man and one of the top box office attractions of the 1920s and early 1930s. Novarro was promoted by MGM as a " Latin lover" and became known as a sex symbol after the death of Rudolph Valentino. He is recognized as the first Latin American actor to succeed in Hollywood. Plot Jamil (Ramon Novarro) is a soldier in the Bedouin defense forces during a war between Syria and Turkey, who has deserted his regiment. In a remote village, he encounters an orphan asylum run by American missionaries Dr. Hilbert (Jerrold Robertshaw) and his daughter Mary (Alice Terry). The village is attacked by the Turks, and its ruler, eager to placate the invaders, intends to hand over the children for slaughter; he disguises his intentions under a move to Damascus for their safety. Pearl Fay White (March 4, 1889 – August 4, 1938) was an American stage and film actress. She began her career on the stage at the age of six, and later moved on to silent films appearing in a number of popular serials. Huguette Duflos (24 August 1887, Limoges – 12 April 1982, Paris) was a French stage and film actress. Life In 1910, she married the actor Raphaël Duflos, from whom she was divorced around 1928. Initially a theatrical performer with the Comédie-Française, Duflor then embarked on a film career. Maurice Lehmann (1895–1974) was a French actor, director and producer of the stage and screen. He starred in the 1923 film '' Koenigsmark'' in which he played the title role.
