Paul Stevenson (Royal Marines)
Major General Paul Timothy Stevenson, (9 March 1940 – 28 January 2023) was a Royal Marines officer who served as commander of the British Forces Falkand Islands, and commanded 42 Commando during The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Military career Stevenson joined the Royal Marines Forces Volunteer Reserve in 1956 and was commissioned as a regular officer in November 1958. After completing training, he served two tours with 41 Commando in 1961. He then deployed with 45 Commando in Aden in 1962–63 as a troop commander, and served aboard HMS Mohawk from 1965 to 1968. During this time he deployed to the Gulf and Beira Patrol as well as Bermuda and the West Indies. Stevenson became Adjutant, Parade Adjutant of the Royal Marine Depot, Deal from 1968 to 1971. Following this, he returned to 45 Commando for multiple deployments to Norway and South Armagh in Northern Ireland between 1972 and 1975. Royal Marines
The Royal Marines provide the United Kingdom's amphibious warfare, amphibious special operations capable commando force, one of the :Fighting Arms of the Royal Navy, five fighting arms of the Royal Navy, a Company (military unit), company strength sub-unit to the Special Forces Support Group, Special Forces Support Group (SFSG), landing craft crews, and the Naval Service's military bands. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. Worshipful Company Of Carpenters
The Worshipful Company of Carpenters is a livery company of the City of London. The Carpenters were traditionally different from a fellow wood-crafting company, the Worshipful Company of Joiners and Ceilers, in that carpenters utilised nails while joiners used adhesives to attach wood. The organisation existed in 1271; it received a Royal Charter of incorporation in 1477. As is the case with most of the other livery companies, the Company no longer has a role as a trade association of tradesmen and craftsmen. Instead, it acts as a charitable institution and supports education in wood-related fields. In 1767 the Company purchased an estate at Stratford, London. In 1886 it opened an evening institute on the Carpenters Estate there, offering classes in carpentry, joinery, plumbing, geometry, mechanical drawing and cookery. Vasaloppet
(Swedish language, Swedish for 'the Vasa race') is an annual long distance cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country ski race held on the first Sunday of March. The course starts in the village of :sv:Berga, Malung-Sälens kommun, Berga, just south of Sälen in western Dalarna, Sweden, and ends in the town of Mora, Sweden, Mora in the central part of the province. It is the oldest cross-country ski race in the world, as well as the one with the highest number of participants. The modern pentathlon is an Summer Olympics, Olympic multisport that consists of five events: fencing (one-touch épée followed by direct elimination), freestyle swimming, obstacle course racing, Laser pistol (sport), laser pistol shooting, and cross country running. NATO Defense College (NDC) is the international military college for NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries. It is located in Rome, Italy. History The idea of a NATO Defense College originated with General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the first Supreme Allied Commander Europe, who identified very early on the need for a new international institution with a unique education mission.
