Paul Sheehan (golfer)
Paul Sheehan (born 26 January 1977) is an Australian professional golfer. Sheehan plays mainly on the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Japan Golf Tour. He has featured in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. He has three wins in Japan, including the 2006 Japan Open, and one win in Australia. He has also played on the PGA Tour. He lives in Melbourne and plays at the Victoria Golf Club as a member. Sheehan finished 20th on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2006, giving him his first start on the PGA Tour. As a child, Sheehan was a junior tennis champion, then took up golf at age 13 and at 16 broke par. He joined the PGA Tour of Australasia in 1999 and has played consistently on his home tour ever since. Wollongong ( ), colloquially referred to as The Gong, is a city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. 2002 Japan Challenge Tour
The Japan Challenge Tour (currently known as the AbemaTV Tour for sponsorships reasons), is a series of developmental golf tournaments run by the Japan Golf Tour Organization. It has been in operation since 1985. The 2018 schedule featured 12 tournaments, with prize funds of mostly ¥15 million. This is about a tenth of the level of prize money per event on offer on the main Japanese Tour, and the main tour also has a longer season. In 2018, internet television provider AbemaTV became the tour's sponsor. The Korn Ferry Tour is the developmental tour for the U.S.-based PGA Tour, and features professional golfers who have either not yet reached the PGA Tour, or who have done so but then failed to win enough FedEx Cup points to stay at that level. Matthew Griffin (born 26 July 1983) is an Australian professional golfer. He plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia where he has won three times and the OneAsia Tour where he has won twice and won the Order of Merit in 2013. Victorian Open
The Vic Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1957 and is the Victoria state open championship for men. It is run by Golf Victoria and is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event is held concurrently with the Women's Victorian Open and offers equal prize pool for the two events. The tournament's tag line is: "Men and women. On the same course. At the same time. For equal prize money." The men and women play on the same course at the same time in alternating groups. Michael Sim
Michael Sim (born 23 October 1984) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career Sim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and moved to Australia when he was 5 years old. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 2002. He was the top ranked amateur in the world in 2005 having won four titles during the year including the Sunnehanna Amateur and the Monroe Invitational. He turned professional at the end of the year. Professional career Sim played on the Nationwide Tour in 2006, and qualified for the PGA Tour by virtue of a 19th-place finish on the end of season money list, aided by a win at PalmettoPride Classic. Jacob's Creek Open Championship
The South Australian Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Nationwide Tour. History The event started in 1933 as the South Australian Close Championship. In 1950 it was renamed the South Australian Open, although it was only in 1952 that it was opened up to players from outside the state. In the late 1960s, there was no sponsor for the tournament. Therefore "only local club professionals competed." In 1975 there was a similar problem. The South Australian Brewing Company did not renew its sponsorship. Due to economic trouble in the country no other companies were willing to sponsor the event. The event did not take place that year.
