Paul Ramsey (born January 24, 1966) is an American rock drummer. He is a founding member of the progressive rock quintet echolyn. Biography Paul Ramsey is a drummer and percussionist born in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. He has over 25 years experience performing and collaborating with various artists throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada. Ramsey is an experienced studio musician appearing on a variety of artists' works. Artists and engineers that have collaborated with Ramsey include T-Bone Wolk, Pete Moshay, Kevin Killen, Paul Bryan, Robert Hazard, Mike Mills, Jerry Marotta, Glenn Rosenstein, and Francis Dunnery. Echolyn is an American progressive rock band based in eastern Pennsylvania. History Origins and first phase (1989–1995) Echolyn was formed in 1989 when guitarist Brett Kull and drummer Paul Ramsey, members of a recently split cover band called Narcissus, joined with keyboardist Chris Buzby to form a new band to focus on original songs. They were soon joined by fellow Narcissus veteran Ray Weston on vocals and bassist Jesse Reyes, and quickly began playing live and recording their eponymous debut album, which was released in 1991. During the recording of that album, Reyes was replaced on bass by Tom Hyatt. The Syn are an English band that were active from 1965 to 1967, and then reunited as a progressive rock band in 2004. The band was founded by Steve Nardelli, Chris Squire, Andrew Pryce Jackman, Martyn Adelman and John Painter. Chris Welch, in his book, ''Close to the Edge: The Story of Yes'' wrote, "The Syn were very similar to Yes in fact. It was very much a precursor of Yes." Early years The Selfs were a rhythm and blues band formed in 1964 in Wembley, London. Vincent Peter Colaiuta (born February 5, 1956) is an American drummer who has worked as a session musician in many genres. He was inducted into the '' Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 1996 and the ''Classic Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 2014. Colaiuta has won one Grammy Award and has been nominated twice. Since the late 1970s, he has recorded and toured with Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, and Sting, among many other appearances in the studio and in concert.
