Paul Patterson (neuroscientist)
Paul H. Patterson (October 22, 1943 – June 25, 2014) was an American neuroscientist and the Anne P. and Benjamin F. Biaggini Professor of Biological Sciences at the California Institute of Technology. Early life and education Paul Patterson was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul and Marge Patterson. His uncle, Clair Patterson, was a scientist who influenced Paul’s future career. He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, moved to Minnesota during high school, and attended Grinnell College for his undergraduate studies. He completed his PhD in biology at Johns Hopkins University with William Lennarz in 1970. He then moved to Harvard University as a post-doctoral scholar, and was promoted to assistant professor of neuroscience at the Harvard Medical School. He worked on the functioning of neurons, showing that the brain is in fact “plastic” and the functions of neurons can be changed by their environment and stimulation. Paul John Patterson (born 28 September 1965) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), and for the West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Career Patterson was already an experienced player for West Adelaide, having played in the SANFL since 1984, when he joined the newly formed Adelaide Crows for their first ever AFL league season in 1991. A key defender, he had to wait until round 22 to make his debut, against at Football Park, and played just eight more games before being delisted in 1993. Patterson, who had continued playing for West Adelaide while also a member of the Crows, remained at The Bloods until retiring in 1999, having brought up his 200th SANFL appearance in the final round of the season and in doing so earning himself player life membership with the SANFL. Paul Patterson (composer)
Paul Patterson (born 15 June 1947) is a British composer and Manson Professor of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Patterson studied trombone and composition at the Royal Academy of Music. One of his teachers was Richard Rodney Bennett. He returned there to become Head of Composition and Contemporary Music until 1997, when he became Manson Professor of Composition. A regular guest on composition competition panels both in the UK and further afield, his devotion to new music, along with his desire to introduce the music of contemporary masters to students (in both composition and performance fields), has resulted in the creation of annual festivals devoted to a single composer at the Academy. He has worked with South East Arts, the University of Warwick, the London Sinfonietta and is currently Composer-in-Residence with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and celebrated his tenth year with them in 2007. G-Type G-Type is a fictional character from Marvel Comics. G-Type is one of the Shi'ar's Imperial Guard (Marvel Comics), Imperial Guard, and is also an Extraterrestrial life in popular culture, alien. He was engineered in the stellar nurseries of Hodinn and was composed of a living solar plasma, with a constant surface temperature of 6000 kelvins (about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit or 5,700 degrees Celsius). Because of this G-Type wears specially-constructed armor which assists him in retaining a humanoid form and contains the heat that he generates. G-Type is also a telepath, although the nature and extent of his telepathy are unknown.
