Paul Ormond
Paul Ormond (born 18 August 1977 near Templemore, County Tipperary) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Loughmore–Castleiney and the Tipperary senior inter-county team. Ormond was the official captain of the Tipperary team in 2008, however, when Ormond or any other Loughmore player failed to secure a regular starting place, Eoin Kelly fulfilled the role of captain. Early life Paul Ormond was born just outside Templemore, County Tipperary in 1977. He was educated locally and later attended Our Lady's Secondary School in Templemore. Here Ormond's hurling skills came to the fore and he won an All-Ireland 'B' Colleges' medal. Playing career Club Ormond plays his club hurling with his local Loughmore–Castleiney club in Tipperary and has enjoyed some success. His first major success was a county under-21 'B' medal in 1994. Loughmore–Castleiney GAA
Loughmore–Castleiney GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Tipperary, Ireland. The club competes in the Mid-Tipperary division of Tipperary GAA, and draws its players and support from the parish of the same name. The area comprises the villages of Loughmore and Castleiney with their surrounding hinterland. History Loughmore–Castleiney has traditionally been a Gaelic football club but also has a successful hurling team, making it one of the very few dual clubs at senior level in County Tipperary. Early Years (1884-1940) Although Loughmore–Castleiney GAA club didn’t really become an entity until the forties, Gaelic games flourished in the parish since the founding of Cumann Luthchleas Gael in 1884. Willie Ryan (born 29 December 1984 in Toomevara, County Tipperary) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Toomevara and has been a member of the Tipperary senior inter-county team since 2006. Playing career Club Ryan plays his club hurling with his local club in Toomevara and has enjoyed much success. In 2003 Ryan's side reached the final of the county senior championship with Thurles Sarsfields providing the opposition. A high-scoring game developed, however, at the full-time whistle Toomevara were the champions by 3-19 to 3-14 and Ryan collected a county winners' medal. This was a fourth consecutive county final defeat for Thurles Sarsfields. This article lists players who have captained the Tipperary county hurling team in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The captain is normally chosen from the club that has won the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. This did not happen in 1989. In that year, the reigning county champion Loughmore–Castleiney did not hold the captaincy during the championship as none of the club's players were deemed good enough to make the county team. In 1989, therefore, Pat McGrath of Loughmore–Castleiney was Tipperary captain during the league and Bobby Ryan of Borris–Ileigh was Tipperary captain during the championship. John O'Brien (hurler)
John O'Brien (born 3 January 1982) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Tipperary senior team. Born in Toomevara, County Tipperary, O'Brien first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2001 league. O'Brien went on to enjoy a lengthy career, and won two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and one National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. At club level O'Brien is a two-time Munster medallist with Toomevara. In addition to this he has also won seven championship medals and three county final Man of the Match awards. His brother, Paddy O'Brien, is also an All-Ireland medallist with Tipperary.
