Peter John Paul Nicholson (February 16, 1954 – September 20, 2011) was a Canadian ice hockey forward. He played 62 games in the National Hockey Leaguefor the Washington Capitals from 1974 to 1976. Paul Nicholson (darts Player)
Paul Michael Nicholson (born 10 May 1979) is an English former professional darts player who played in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He won a major event, the 2010 Players Championship Finals, where he defeated Mervyn King in the final. He was also the runner-up to Phil Taylor in the 2011 Championship League Darts, and part of the Australia team which lost a sudden death shoot-out to England in the 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts final. Nicholson also acts as a sports commentator and TV and radio pundit. He was nicknamed "The Asset", and was known for coming on to the stage with sunglasses, and was also known for his professional wrestling-style walk ons, using the song "Club Foot" as his walk on music for most of his career. Nicholson had a feud with Phil Taylor during the 2011 UK Open, in which he supposedly "waved goodbye" to Taylor after beating him in a sudden death leg to reach the quarter-finals. Sir Paul Douglas Nicholson, (7 March 1938 – 17 January 2025) was an English industrialist and was Lord Lieutenant of County Durham from 1997 to 2013. Early life and education Nicholson was born in County Durham, England, to (Frank) Douglas Nicholson and Pauline Nicholson ( Lawson-Tancred). He was educated at Ludgrove School, Harrow School and Clare College, Cambridge. Between Harrow and Cambridge, he was commissioned for National Service in The Coldstream Guards. Having completed his period of active service, he transferred to the Army Emergency Reserve of Officers on 8 October 1958 as a second lieutenant with seniority in that rank from 13 April 1957. He was promoted to lieutenant on 29 December 1958. He transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps, Territorial Army, on 23 November 1961 with the rank of lieutenant.
