Vice Admiral Paul Murray is a retired South African Navy officer who served as Chief of Staff Finance for the South African Defence Force before his retirement in 1993. Naval career Paul Murray was a surface combat officer who served as a Bridge Watchkeeping Officer, Gunnery Officer and Executive Officer aboard various vessels. He later served as Director Budgeting and Programming for the SADF. He served as Chief Director Finances under V Adm Marthinus Bekker. He was promoted to vice admiral in 1990. Paul Murray (born 1975) is an Irish novelist, essayist, short story writer, and screenwriter, the author of the novels '' An Evening of Long Goodbyes'' (2003), ''Skippy Dies'' (2010), '' The Mark and the Void'' (2015), and '' The Bee Sting'' (2023). He also wrote the screenplay for ''Metal Heart''. Biography Murray was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1975, the son of a professor of Anglo-Irish Drama at University College Dublin and a teacher. Murray attended Blackrock College in south Dublin, an experience that would later provide the basis for the school in ''Skippy Dies''. He studied English literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and subsequently completed his master's in creative writing at the University of East Anglia. Paul Murray (born 29 May 1964) is a Scottish businessman. He is a former director of Rangers Football Club. Murray is a chartered accountant. He became director of Rangers Football Club on 20 September 2007. A few weeks after Craig Whyte's take over the company that owned the club in May 2011, Murray was removed from the board by Whyte as for refusing to resign his directorship. After two years, Murray returned to the spotlight when he led a group of Rangers shareholders that requisitioned an EGM to vote on the removal of Plc board directors including then chief executive Craig Mather, although the bid proved ultimately unsuccessful. Paul Murray (born 31 August 1976) is an English football coach and former professional player. He is currently academy manager and the academy manager of Oldham Athletic. Playing career Murray was born on 31 August 1976, in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. Sandbox was a Canadian alternative rock band active in the 1990s. The band consisted of Paul Murray on lead vocals, Mike Smith and Jason Archibald on guitar, Scott MacFarlane on bass and Troy Shanks on drums. Formation Sandbox was formed by Mike Smith in New Glasgow in 1992, originally as a cover band named Sandbox Legacy. Lead singer Paul Murray is the nephew of singer Anne Murray. The band debuted with the 1993 indie EP, ''Maskman''. Canadian chart success Their debut album ''Bionic'' was released in 1995. Paul Brendan Murray, (born 26 November 1947) is an Irish Dominican priest of the Catholic Church, poet, writer, and professor. Murray was born at Newcastle, County Down, in Northern Ireland. In 1966 he joined the Irish Dominican Province, and was ordained a priest in 1973. Since 1994 he has lived in Rome, Italy, where he teaches the literature of the mystical tradition at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, also known as the Angelicum. He holds a doctorate in English Literature from University College Dublin. Anna Pauline "Pauli" Murray (November 20, 1910 – July 1, 1985) was an American civil rights activist, advocate, legal scholar and theorist, author and – later in life – an Episcopal priest. Murray's work influenced the civil rights movement and expanded legal protection for gender equality. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Murray was essentially orphaned and then raised mostly by her maternal aunt in Durham, North Carolina. At age 16, she moved to New York City to attend Hunter College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1933. In 1940, Murray sat in the whites-only section of a Virginia bus with a friend, and they were arrested for violating state segregation laws. This incident, and her subsequent involvement with the socialist Workers' Defense League, led her to pursue her career goal of working as a civil rights lawyer.
