Paul McGrane
Paul McGrane is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Armagh county team in the 1990s and 2000s. He won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal, seven Ulster Championships and a National League title with the county. He also won two All Star awards. McGrane plays club football for Ballyhegan Davitts. McGrane is a midfielder. He is known as one of Armagh's best ever players. In 2009 to mark the 125th anniversary of the Gaelic Athletic Association he was named by ''The Irish News'' as one of the all-time best 125 footballers from Ulster. Playing career Inter-county In 1992 McGrane won the Ulster Minor Football League and Ulster Minor Football Championship with the Armagh Minor team. Ballyhegan Davitts GAC
Ballyhegan Davitts GAA Club (also "Ballyhegan Davitts Cumann Luthchleas Gael") is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in central County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is affiliated with the Armagh GAA and is based in the parish of Kilmore which has two ends: Mullavilly and Stonebridge. It currently competes in football, and Ladies Gaelic Football, at Under 8 to Minor levels. Its Senior Men team competes in the Armagh Junior Football Championship and in the Junior Division of the All-County League. Aidan O'Rourke (born 1984) is a Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former Gaelic footballer. He played from 2001 to 2009, winning an GAA GPA All Stars Awards, All Star and an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship as a player for the Armagh county football team, Armagh county team in 2002. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. International Rules Series
The International Rules Series is a senior men's international rules football competition between the Australia international rules football team (selected by the Australian Football League) and the Ireland international rules football team (selected by the Gaelic Athletic Association). International rules football is played using a set of compromise rules devised by both governing bodies. While the International Rules Series matches use some rules from Australian rules football, the field, ball and uniforms of both teams are derived from Gaelic football. Ireland International Rules Football Team
The Ireland international rules football team is the representative team for Ireland in international rules football, a compromise between Gaelic football and Australian rules football. The team is made up of Irish players from the Gaelic Athletic Association and Australian Football League. Prior to 2006, an under-19 and under-17 team had participated in a similar series, while a women's team participated in 2006. Currently, the Ireland team plays at least one of its home games at Croke Park, with recent alternative venues being Pearse Stadium in Galway in 2006, the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick in 2010 and Breffni Park in Cavan in 2013. At present the only team Ireland plays is the Australia international rules football team, on an annual basis in the International Rules Series. A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch.
