Paul Scott "Paco" Lockhart (born April 28, 1956) is an American aerospace engineer, retired United States Air Force colonel and NASA astronaut, a veteran of two Space Shuttle missions. Early life and education Lockhart, born April 28, 1956, and reared in Amarillo, Texas, graduated from Tascosa High School in 1974. Paul Lockhart (historian)
Paul D. Lockhart (born 1963) is an American historian who specializes in American and Scandinavian military history. He has authored several well known books such as ''The Drillmaster of Valley Forge: The Baron de Steuben and the Making of the American Army'' (New York: HarperCollins, 2008) and ''The Whites of Their Eyes: Bunker Hill, the First American Army, and the Emergence of George Washington'' (New York: HarperCollins, 2011). A native of Poughkeepsie, New York, Lockhart did his undergraduate work at SUNY Potsdam and then did his graduate studies at Purdue University under Gunther E. Rothenberg. Since 1989, Lockhart has taught at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. T-33
The Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star (or T-Bird) is an American subsonic jet trainer. It was produced by Lockheed and made its first flight in 1948. The T-33 was developed from the Lockheed P-80/F-80 starting as TP-80C/TF-80C in development, then designated T-33A. It was used by the U.S. Navy initially as TO-2, then TV-2, and after 1962, T-33B. The last operator of the T-33, the Bolivian Air Force, retired the type in July 2017, after 44 years of service. Design and development The T-33 was developed from the Lockheed P-80/F-80 by lengthening the fuselage by slightly more than 3 feet (1 m) and adding a second seat, instrumentation, and flight controls. It was initially designated as a variant of the P-80/F-80, the TP-80C/TF-80C. Design work on the Lockheed P-80 began in 1943, with the first flight on 8 January 1944. 49th Fighter Training Squadron
The 49th Fighter Training Squadron is part of the 14th Flying Training Wing based at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. It operates T-38 Talon aircraft conducting flight training. The squadron was first activated as the 49th Pursuit Squadron in 1941 during the expansion of the United States military that preceded World War II. Immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the squadron flew air defense patrols off the southern Pacific coast. In 1942 it was redesignated the 49th Fighter Squadron and deployed to England, but a few months later the squadron moved to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. The squadron earned a Distinguished Unit Citation in 1944 and was inactivated in 1945. The squadron was activated again at Dow Field, Maine as one of the first units of Air Defense Command (ADC).
