2024 Tour De France
The 2024 Tour de France is the upcoming 111th edition of the Tour de France. It will start in Florence, Italy on 29 June, and will finish in Nice, France on the 21 July. The race will not finish in Paris for the first time in its history, owing to preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Route and stages In December 2022, Amaury Sport Organisation announced that Italy will host the ''Grand Départ'', for the first time. 2024 will be the 100th anniversary of the first Italian winner of the Tour, Ottavio Bottecchia in 1924. The route will also visit the microstate of San Marino, making it the 15th country to be visited by a Tour stage. General Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The general classification in the Giro d'Italia is the most important classification of the Giro d'Italia, which determines who is the overall winner. It is therefore considered more important than secondary classifications as the points classification or the mountains classification. Since 1931, the leader of the general classification is identified by a pink jersey ( it, maglia rosa ). Prior to that year and since the creation of the race, no colour was used to distinguish the winner at the top of the classification. The first rider to wear the maglia rosa was Learco Guerra following the first stage of the 1931 Giro d'Italia. The first jersey was entirely pink and made from wool. It had a roll-neck collar and front pockets. As Italy was under Fascist Party rule there was a gray shield stitched onto the shirt, a symbol for the party. In road bicycle racing, a Grand Tour is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races: Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España. Collectively they are termed the ''Grand Tours'', and all three races are similar in format, being three-week races with daily stages. They have a special status in the UCI regulations: more points for the UCI World Tour are distributed in Grand Tours than in other races, and they are the only stage races allowed to last longer than 14 days. All three races have a substantial history, with the Tour de France first held in 1903, Giro d'Italia first held in 1909 and the Vuelta a España first held in 1935. The 2024 La Drôme Classic, officially the Faun Drôme Classic due to sponsorships, was the 11th edition of the Drôme Classic cycle race. It was held on 25 February 2024 as a category 1.Pro race on the 2024 UCI ProSeries. The race started and finished in Étoile-sur-Rhône and featured several climbs throughout.
