Paul J. Morrison
Paul J. Morrison (born June 1, 1954) is an American lawyer and former Kansas Attorney General, Attorney General of Kansas. Morrison attended Washburn University and Washburn School of Law, graduating in 1980. While at Washburn, he was a member of the Kansas Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta. Career Morrison was sworn in as the 42nd Kansas Attorney General following a 26-year career in law enforcement. He previously served as the District Attorney for Johnson County, Kansas, from 1990 until January 2007. In 2005, Morrison switched from the Republican Party (United States), Republican to the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party and announced he would challenge Republican Phill Kline in 2006 for Attorney General. Chris Biggs (born October 14, 1958) is an American lawyer and politician who was the 30th Secretary of State of Kansas. He was appointed on March 16, 2010 by Governor Mark Parkinson to replace Ron Thornburgh who resigned on February 15, 2010. On Nov. 2nd, 2010, he was defeated for election to a full term by a wide margin. Biggs Served as Kansas Securities Commissioner from 2003 until his appointment as Secretary of State. Prior to that, he served as Geary County Prosecutor from 1989 to 2003 and as a public defender from 1983 to 1988. In 2002, he was the Democratic nominee for Attorney General. Undue influence (UI) is a psychological process by which a person's free will and judgement is supplanted by that of another. It is a legal term and the strict definition varies by jurisdiction. Generally speaking, it is a means by which a person gains control over their victims' decision making through manipulation tactics and unfair pressure, typically for financial gain. Historically, UI has been poorly understood, even in some legal circles. Undue influence is typically perpetrated by a person who is trusted by the victim and is dependent on them for emotional and physical needs. Caregivers are often found to have unduly influenced their patients, however, anyone in a position of trust and authority over the victim (e.g. fiduciary) may be guilty.
