Paul Gittings
Gittings Studios is a photographic studio founded in 1928 by Paul Gittings, Sr.. Gittings bought the Bachrach Studios in the southern region of the United States during the Great Depression. The Gittings laboratory was a pioneer of color dye transfer prints. In the 1960s, the Gittings laboratories were the first to use machines from Kodak that would develop into the "one hour processing." Due to this progress, the Gittings laboratory lost a substantial portion of its market in the professional color film processing industry. Paul Linwood Gittings, Sr. was instrumental in organizing, funding and establishing the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Gittings also operated a studio within Neiman Marcus. Bachrach Studios is an American photographic studio, believed to be one of the oldest continuously operating photography studios in the world. History It was founded in Baltimore in 1868 by David Bachrach, David Bachrach, Jr. The studio's founder, David Bachrach, took the only photo of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The studio has photographed every US Head of State since then, its founder having made it a goal to photograph all the important people he could. The history of photography began with the discovery of two critical principles: The first is camera obscura image projection; the second is the discovery that some substances are visibly altered by exposure to light. There are no artifacts or descriptions that indicate any attempt to capture images with light sensitive materials prior to the 18th century. Around 1717, Johann Heinrich Schulze used a light-sensitive slurry to capture images of cut-out letters on a bottle. However, he did not pursue making these results permanent.
