Paul Fung Jr.
Paul Fung Jr. (March 9, 1923 – April 8, 2016) was an American cartoonist who drew the '' Blondie'' comic book for 40 years. He was the son of Paul Fung, a cartoonist who drew the comic strip ''Dumb Dora'' for several years. Career He was Chic Young's assistant on the '' Blondie'' newspaper strip from 1949 until 1965. Fung Jr. also contributed to the ''Blondie'' comic book with his ''Flash Foley, News Photographer'' stories. He was the son of Paul Fung, a cartoonist who drew the comic strip ''Dumb Dora'' for several years and had worked with Cliff Sterrett and Billy DeBeck. A cartoonist is a visual artist who specializes in both drawing and writing cartoons (individual images) or comics (sequential images). Blondie (comic Strip)
''Blondie'' is an American comic strip created by cartoonist Chic Young. The comic strip is distributed by King Features Syndicate, and has been published in newspapers since September 8, 1930. The success of the strip, which features the eponymous blonde and her sandwich-loving husband Dagwood, led to the long-running '' Blondie'' film series (1938–1950) and the popular '' Blondie'' radio program (1939–1950). Chic Young wrote and drew ''Blondie'' until his death in 1973, when creative control passed to his son Dean Young. A number of artists have assisted on drawing the strip over the years, including Alex Raymond, Jim Raymond, Paul Fung Jr., Mike Gersher, Stan Drake, Denis Lebrun, Jeff Parker, and (since 2005) John Marshall.
