Paul Dawson (lacrosse)
Paul Dawson (born September 16, 1985) is a Canadian lacrosse player who plays defense for the Buffalo Bandits. His older brother Dan, played for the Toronto Rock. Dawson was drafted as a goaltender in the first round (7th overall) in the 2006 National Lacrosse League entry draft. As a goaltender, Dawson played with the Brampton Excelsiors in the Senior A Major Series Lacrosse League. The San Jose Stealth converted him from a goaltender to a defenseman starting with the 2008 NLL season. He was then traded to the Boston Blazers, where he played two seasons with his brother Dan. In 2010, Dawson was traded to the Calgary Roughnecks, who subsequently traded him to the Philadelphia Wings. A year later, Dawson was reunited with his brother when Dan Dawson was acquired in the Boston Blazers dispersal draft. Buffalo Bandits
The Buffalo Bandits are an American professional box lacrosse team based in Buffalo, New York, that competes in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team plays its home games at KeyBank Center. The Bandits played in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League from 1992 MILL season, 1992 to 1997 MILL season, 1997, then in its successor the NLL since 1998 NLL season, 1998. The Bandits are one of the oldest franchises in the league, behind the Albany FireWolves (which were founded in 1987 as the original Philadelphia Wings (1987–2014) franchise) and the Colorado Mammoth (which were founded in 1987 as the Baltimore Thunder). 2008 NLL Season
The 2008 National Lacrosse League season, the 22nd in the history of the NLL, began on December 29, 2007, and concluded with the Buffalo Bandits winning the championship game over the Portland LumberJax on May 17, 2008. In an odd coincidence, all four eastern division teams that made the playoffs finished with identical 10–6 records. Due to tiebreakers, the Buffalo Bandits clinched first place overall, followed by the Minnesota Swarm, New York Titans in their playoff debut, and the Philadelphia Wings in their return to the playoffs after a five-year absence. There was also a tie atop the west division standings, as the San Jose Stealth and Colorado Mammoth both finished with 9–7 records. Lacrosse is a contact team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. The Halifax Thunderbirds (known colloquially as the T-Birds) are a Canadian professional box lacrosse team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, that competes in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The original Rochester Knighthawks (also known as the K-Hawks) were a professional box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League. They played in Rochester, New York at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Knighthawks were previously members of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League from 1995 to 1997. They were members of the NLL since the league's inaugural 1998 season. The Knighthawks reached the playoffs in each of their first 13 seasons, from 1995 to 2007.
