Paul Davies (Conservative Politician)
Paul Windsor Davies (born 1969) is a British politician who has served as Member of the Senedd (MS) for Preseli Pembrokeshire (Senedd constituency), Preseli Pembrokeshire since 2007 National Assembly for Wales election, 2007, and as Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution and External Affairs and Welsh Conservative Chief Whip since December 2024. He served as Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Leader of the Opposition in Wales from June 2018 to January 2021, resigning after possible breaches of COVID-19 pandemic in Wales, Welsh COVID-19 rules. He had previously been Deputy Leader from 2011 to 2018 and Acting Leader in 2011 and 2018. Background Davies grew up in Pontsian. Darren Millar
Darren David Millar (born 1976) is a British politician who has served as the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Clwyd West since 2007. He is a member of the Welsh Conservatives. Political career From 2000 to 2001, Millar was mayor of the township of Towyn and Kinmel Bay. He was also a member of Conwy County Borough Council, the North Wales Police Authority and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. In the 2003 Senedd election, he stood as the Conservative candidate for the Vale of Clwyd. Alun Cairns
Alun Hugh Cairns (born 30 July 1970) is a Welsh Conservative Party politician serving as the member of Parliament (MP) for Vale of Glamorgan since 2010. He served as Secretary of State for Wales from 2016 to 2019. He was previously a member of the National Assembly for Wales for the South Wales West region from 1999 to 2011. Newcastle Emlyn ( cy, Castellnewydd Emlyn) is a town on the River Teifi, straddling the counties of Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire in West Wales. The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level, or A Level, is a main school leaving qualification in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It is available as an alternative qualification in other countries. Students generally study for A levels over a two-year period. Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi
Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi was a bilingual (Welsh and English) comprehensive school in Llandysul, Ceredigion. It stood on the site of the previous Llandysul Grammar School. The school was established in 1984 following the re-organisation of education in the Teifi Valley. It was formerly a county school and grammar school dating back to the 19th century. In 2001 there were 570 pupils at the school, the numbers then dropped, but had increased once more to 527 in 2007, and were expected to continue to gradually increase. 78% of the pupils were from homes where Welsh was the main language spoken in 2001, this increased to 83% in 2007, with 91% of the pupils able to speak the language to first language standard. COVID-19 Pandemic In Wales
The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have spread to Wales on 28 February 2020, with a case being reported in the Swansea area; this first known case was a person who had recently returned from Italy. The first known case of community transmission was reported on 11 March in the Caerphilly area. Wide-ranging restrictions began on many aspects of life in the second half of March 2020; restrictions were relaxed in Wales during the summer once the first wave of virus had passed. In the autumn of that year, with cases rising, restrictions began to be tightened again with individual areas being placed under localised lockdowns. 2007 National Assembly For Wales Election
The 2007 National Assembly for Wales election was held on Thursday 3 May 2007 to elect members to the National Assembly for Wales. It was the third general election. On the same day local elections in England and Scotland, as well as the Scottish Parliament election took place. This election was preceded by the previous Assembly election in 2003.
