Paul Connolly (PEI Politician)
John Paul Connolly (born June 22, 1946) is a Canadian former educator and politician. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 1982 provincial election and represented the electoral district of 6th Queens from 1982 to 1996, followed by Charlottetown-Rochford Square from 1996 to 2000. He was a member of the Liberal Party. The son of Stephen Peter Connolly and Catherine McNally, Connolly was educated at Saint Dunstan's University and the University of Prince Edward Island. Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. It was the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to discuss the proposed Maritime Union. This conference led, instead, to the union of British North American colonies in 1867, which was the beginning of the Canadian confederation. PEI, however, did not join Confederation until 1873. St. Dunstan's University (SDU) is a former university which was located on the northern outskirts of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. SDU merged with Prince of Wales College (PWC) in 1969 to form the University of Prince Edward Island. St. Dunstan's College was founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlottetown on January 15, 1855 as a seminary which trained young men for the Catholic clergy. The St. Andrew's College, founded in 1831, was its predecessor. By the mid-20th century, the college had expanded into a small liberal arts university. Ronald William "Ronnie" MacKinley (born August 24, 1947) is a Prince Edward Island Liberal politician, and former member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. Early life Born in Charlottetown, MacKinley is the son of John McKinley and Mildred Sellar. He was raised on the family farm in the rural community of North River which was amalgamated into the town of Cornwall in 1996. Before running for office, MacKinley worked as a farmer in North River. Apart from owning and operating his farm, he co-owns MacKinley Brothers beef farm with his mother and his son. He is married to Anne Clarkin, and has three children, and two grandchildren. Keith Milligan
Keith Wayne Milligan (born February 8, 1950 in Inverness) was the 29th premier of Prince Edward Island, serving for seven weeks in the autumn of 1996. Holland College is the provincial community college for the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI). It is named after the British Army engineer and surveyor Captain Samuel Holland. The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is a public university in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and the only university in the province. The 1982 Prince Edward Island general election was held on September 27, 1982. In 1981, after just two years as premier, Angus MacLean resigned his position after the election of James Lee to the Progressive Conservative leadership.
