Paul Mars Black (born Paul Marmorstein; March 17, 1959) is an American singer and drummer. He is most notable for his time as lead vocalist in L.A. Guns, with whom he wrote most of their self-titled debut album. Early life and career Born in San Francisco, California, Black's roots were in bluegrass. In the 1970s, his high school rock band was called Your Mother. He also played in several jazz cover bands. In 1978, he was a percussion major at San Jose State University. Black moved to Los Angeles in May 1980, still using his given name, Paul Martin Marmorstein. His first L.A. band was Mad Captions who played CBGB in New York and The Hot Club in Philadelphia with The Dead Boys. In 1981, Paul joined The Mau-Mau's, a Los Angeles-based punk band which was fronted by Rick Wilder of The Berlin Brats. During Paul's time with The Mau-Mau's, he shortened his name to "Paul Mars." Paul Michael Black (born 18 January 1990) is an English footballer. Career Oldham Athletic Growing up to have the dream to become a footballer, Black was a product of the Manchester City FC's youth system before joining Oldham Athletic and becoming a regular in the starting eleven during the 2006–07 season, becoming a captain for the youth squad. In November 2007, he was included in the senior team for the first time but was not used as a substitute in a 2–2 draw versus Doncaster Rovers—his first professional contract. On 16 January 2008, Black signed a -year contract with Oldham Athletic. Paul Black (born July 22, 1957 in Hinsdale, Illinois) is an American graphic artist, designer and writer of general and science fiction. He is best known for his near-future science fiction trilogy, The Tels. Early life Black grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. His passion for art and writing began early. By age twelve, he had advanced into adult level drawing classes. By high school, he had completed a book of poetry and his first novella. He attended University of Oklahoma where he earned a degree in graphic design and was a 2-time national champion gymnast. Professor Paul Black is an educational researcher, physicist and a current Professor Emeritus at King's College London. Black was previously Professor of Science Education and Director of the Centre for Science and Mathematics Education at the Chelsea College of Science and Technology and Head for Educational Studies at King's College London. He is a former Chair for the Task Group on Assessment and Testing and Deputy Chair of the National Curriculum Council, and is recognised as an architect of the national curriculum testing regime and the national curriculum for Science.
