Paul Andrews (Australian Politician)
Paul William Andrews (11 November 195522 October 2009) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2008, representing the electorate of Southern River. Andrews entered parliament at the 2001 state election by defeating sitting Liberal MP Monica Holmes. He won re-election at the 2005 state election by defeating Holmes a second time. Seeking a third term at the 2008 state election, Andrews lost his seat to Liberal candidate Peter Abetz. Andrews had also battled kidney disease for years and championed organ transplant in the Western Australian State Parliament for his two terms. Baguley ( ) is an area and electoral ward of the city of Manchester, in Greater Manchester, England. The population at the 2011 census was 14,794. The name ''Baguley'' is derived from the Old English words ''bagga'' (badger, or possibly referring simply to any woodland or hill-inhabiting wild animal) and ''lēah'' (clearing or meadow). Historically in Cheshire, Baguley is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It was incorporated into Manchester in 1931. History Baguley is recorded in the Domesday Book with 1.5 ploughlands (one ploughland being the amount of land that can be ploughed by a team of eight oxen). He was the crew chief for Bobby Labonte's No. 43 team for Petty Enterprises until August 2007. He was the crew chief for Alan Kulwicki's 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Series championship. Paul Martin Andrews (born 1959) is an American rape survivor and an advocate for rape survivors. Background In 1973, Andrews was kidnapped in his native Virginia and hidden in an underground box by the convicted child abuser Richard Ausley. Thirty years after his ordeal, he went public with his story and became an activist for bolstering Virginia law with additional funding for continued civil commitments for sex offenders after their criminal sentences end. In this case, Virginia did not get a chance to test its new Civil Commitment for Sexually Violent Predators Act. Ausley's sentence was extended by five years after another victim came forward. In January 2004, Ausley was murdered in his prison cell by his cellmate Dewey Keith Venable, who had also been molested as a child. Andrews later said that he did not hate Ausley, and did not wish his death. Venable was charged with capital murder, but was later allowed to plead guilty to second degree murder. Paul Andrews (17 May 1958 – 21 October 2024), better known by his stage name Paul Di'Anno, was an English Heavy metal music, heavy metal singer who was the lead vocalist for Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981. In his post-Maiden career, Di'Anno issued numerous albums over the years, as both a solo artist and as a member of bands such as Gogmagog (band), Gogmagog, Di'Anno's Battlezone, Killers, Rockfellas, and Warhorse.
