Patt Shea
Patricia "Patt" Catherine Carmody Shea (April 12, 1931 – April 12, 2024) was an American television writer and story editor, best known for her work on sitcoms including ''All in the Family'' and its spin-offs. She was co-founder and chair of Catholics in Media Associates (CIMA). Early life and education Patricia Carmody was born in Sacramento, California, the daughter of William P. Carmody and Margaret M. Carmody. Her father was a real estate agent. The Carmody family were Catholic; her sister became a nun. She graduated from St. Francis High School and Immaculate Heart College. She also attended Sacramento Junior College, and took writing classes at UCLA. Career Shea wrote and was a story editor in television, especially for sitcoms, often with her writing partner Harriett Weiss. Shea and Weiss wrote the final episode of ''All in the Family'', "Too Good Edith". She received her first nomination for a Humanitas Prize for the episode. Jack Shea (director)
Jack Shea (August 1, 1928 – April 28, 2013) was an American television and film director. He was the president of the Directors Guild of America from 1997 to 2002. Life and career Born John Francis Shea, Jr., Shea's father was a traveling salesman and his mother a bookkeeper. He received a parochial high school education, later attaining a degree in history from Fordham University. Shea broke into the entertainment industry in 1951, initially as a stage manager for the TV series Philco Playhouse, and, following two years of service with the United States Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War, making instructional films in Los Angeles, and later becoming an associate director. ''Lou Grant'' is an American drama television series starring Ed Asner in the title role as a newspaper editor that aired on CBS from September 20, 1977, to September 13, 1982. The third spin-off (after '' Rhoda'' and '' Phyllis'') of the American sitcom ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show'', ''Lou Grant'' was created by James L. Brooks, Allan Burns, and Gene Reynolds. ''Lou Grant'' won 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series twice. Asner received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1978 and 1980. Sherman Oaks (founded in 1927) is a neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles, California within the San Fernando Valley region. The neighborhood includes a portion of the Santa Monica Mountains, which gives Sherman Oaks a lower population density than some other areas in Los Angeles.
