Patsy Lawlor
Patricia Lawlor (; 17 March 1933 – 19 December 1997) was an Irish politician, nurse and businesswoman. Politics She was elected as Fine Gael member to Kildare County Council at the 1974 local elections for the Naas electoral area; and re-elected at the 1979 local elections. From the 1985 local elections onwards, she was re-elected as an independent member. In 1979, she became the first woman to chair Kildare County Council and Kildare VEC. A member of the General Council of County Councils from 1979, she was its chairperson from 1981 to 1982. She was an unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate at the 1981 general election and February 1982 general elections for the Kildare constituency. She was elected to Seanad Éireann on the Cultural and Educational Panel in 1981 as a Fine Gael member. She lost her seat at the 1983 Seanad election. Seanad Éireann
Seanad Éireann ( ; ; "Senate of Ireland") is the senate of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (defined as the house of representatives). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators ( in Irish language, Irish, singular: ). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. 1991 Irish Local Elections
The 1991 Irish local elections were held in all administrative counties and county boroughs on Thursday, 27 June 1991. Ireland was divided into local government areas of administrative counties and county boroughs. There was a second tier of boroughs, urban districts and towns with boards of commissioners. The elections were postponed from June 1990. This allowed the Local Government Act 1991 to be passed beforehand. Elections in non-county boroughs and towns were postponed until 1994. They were the first local elections contested by the Progressive Democrats, which had been founded in December 1985, and the first since Sinn Féin registered as a political party in December 1986. The 2011 Irish general election took place on Friday 25 February to elect 166 Teachta Dála, Teachtaí Dála across Dáil constituencies, 43 constituencies to Dáil Éireann, the lower house of Republic of Ireland, Ireland's parliament, the Oireachtas. Kildare North (Dáil Constituency)
Kildare North is a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency elects five deputies ( Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV). History and boundaries The constituency was created at the 1997 general election, when the former 5-seat Kildare constituency was divided into Kildare North and Kildare South.
