Patrik Baboumian
Patrik Baboumian (, ; born 1 July 1979) is an Iranian-born Armenian retired strongman and former bodybuilder. He promotes veganism. Early life Baboumian was born on 1 July 1979 in Abadan, the son of Armenian parents. Career Baboumian lifted in his second attempt in the 2009 German log lift nationals. The next year, he set a new German heavyweight log lifting record with 180 kg (396 pounds). In 2011, Baboumian competed at the log lifting world championship and placed 4th with a new German overall record of . On 21 May 2011, he lifted in Finland, winning the local competition. He also won "Germany's Strongest Man" in 2011 by winning the open division at the German strongman nationals. On September 20, 2015, Baboumian beat his record by completing the yoke walk with in Germany. Personal life Baboumian has been a vegetarian since 2005 and became a vegan in 2011. Abadan, Iran
Abadan (; ) is a city in the Central District (Abadan County), Central District of Abadan County, Khuzestan province, Khuzestan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. The city is in the southwest of the county. It lies on Abadan Island ( long, 3–19 km or 2–12 miles wide). The island is bounded in the west by the Shatt al-Arab, Arvand waterway and to the east by the Bahmanshir outlet of the Karun River (the Arvand Rood), from the Persian Gulf, near the Iran–Iraq border. Abadan is 140 km from the provincial capital city of Ahvaz. Etymology The earliest mention of the island of Abadan, if not the port itself, is found in the works of the Greek geographer Marcian of Heraclea, Marcian, who renders the name "Apphadana". Earlier, the classical geographer Ptolemy notes "Apphana" as an island off the mouth of the Tigris (which is where the modern Island of Abadan is located).
