Patrick Wilson FRSE LLD (often Anglicised as Peter Wilson) (1743 – 1811) was a Scottish astronomer, type-founder, mathematician and meteorologist. He was the Regius Professor of Practical Astronomy at the University of Glasgow from 1784 to 1799. In 1783 he was one of the several joint founders of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Life Wilson was born on 16 January 1743, the second son of Jean Sharp and Alexander Wilson, the first Regius Professor of Practical Astronomy the University of Glasgow. He was appointed his father's successor in 1784 before his father resigned the position. Likely due to the failing health of his father, they shared the role until his father's death in 1786. He was Clerk of the University Senate from 1783 to 1795 and 1796 to 1799, and was awarded an honorary LLD in 1800. Patrick Wilson (c.1798 – 6 February 1871) was a British architect with a long career spanning across the 19th century from the Georgian aesthetic to the Victorian. He was a strong advocate of purpose-built housing for the poor working closely with the Rev. Thomas Chalmers. Most of his works are in Edinburgh, the most notable of which is the first ever colony style housing in the city, the Shaw Colonies, a very innovative building form. Patrick Wilson (December 29, 1927 – September 12, 2003) was a noted librarian, information scientist and philosopher who served as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley and as dean of the School of Library and Information Studies (now the School of Information) there. Earlier in his career, Wilson taught philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles. Patrick Wilson (born 11 December 1994) is a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He made his debut in round 13 of the 2018 season against Hawthorn at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Wilson originally played for South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Sturt and made his senior debut in the 2014 season.
