Patrick Dourado
Patrocicio "Patrick" Dourado (born 23 June 1939) is an Indian playwright, theatre director, singer, composer, and ghostwriter who works on the Tiatr, Konkani stage. Throughout a career that has lasted for over six decades, he has written scripts for more than 100 ''tiatrs'', starting in 1957 at the age of 18. Early life Dourado was born on 23 June 1939 in Curchorem, Goa which was part of Portuguese India during the Portuguese Empire (now in India). His parents, Carlos Dourado, originally hailing from Quepem taluka#Settlements, Assolda, and Caetana Maria Colaco, belonged to a Goan Catholic family associated with the Shudra community. Both of his parents were employed as laborers. Dourado, being the eldest of his three siblings, hailed from a financially disadvantaged background. The Dalgado Konknni Akademi is an organisation located in Panjim, Goa that works for the development and promotion of Konkani in the Roman script. History The academy was established in 1988 and named after Sebastião Rodolfo Dalgado. During the period 1988-1992, the DKA was very active. Konkani () is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Konkani people, primarily in the Konkan region, along the western coast of India.
