Patrick Denipitiya
Patrick Tibertius Maximus Denipitiya (11 August 1934—23 March 2013) was a Sri Lankan musician. He was part of the movement that brought western music to Sri Lanka in the 1960s, he also introduced the electric Hawaiian guitar into Sri Lankan sinhala music industry and was responsible for the musical composition, arrangements, music direction and performance of many Sinhala songs and films from the early-1950s to 1997. He had a unique ability whereby he could write music scores without using an instrument in both Eastern and Western notation. He was able to do this for an entire orchestra that utilized both eastern and western instruments. He directed music for a lot of songs written by Karunaratne Abeysekera, George Leslie Ranasinghe and Cyril A Seelawimala (and some of Premakeerthi De Alwis, KDK Darmawardene, Fr. Kotahena is a suburb part of Colombo, Sri Lanka. George Harrison
George Harrison (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. The music of Sri Lanka has its roots in five primary influences: ancient folk rituals, Hindu religious traditions, Buddhist religious traditions, the legacy of European colonisation, and the commercial and historical influence of nearby Indian culture—specifically, Kollywood cinema and Bollywood cinema. The Portuguese were the first Europeans to arrive in Sri Lanka, landing in the mid-15th century. Kandy Lake ( si, බෝගම්බර වැව/ කිරි මූද), also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of the hill city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. History The company was founded in 1954 by Angulugaha Gamage Hinni Appuhamy.
