Paddy Collins
Paddy "Fox" Collins (12 April 1903 – 17 February 1995) was an Irish hurling, hurler who played as a left corner-back for the Cork GAA, Cork senior team. Born in Kinsale, County Cork, Collins first played competitive hurling during his schooling at The North Monastery. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-five when he first linked up with the Cork senior team. He made his senior debut during the 1928 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1928 championship. Collins immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medals, two Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. As a member of the Munster GAA, Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Collins won one Railway Cup medal. Patrick Collins (born 1942) is an Irish people, Irish former Gaelic football referee and Gaelic games administrator. Born in Athboy, County Meath, Collins refereed the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, All-Ireland SFC finals of 1976 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, 1976, 1981 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, 1981, 1984 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, 1984 and 1989 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, 1989. A 2014 article in Hoganstand.com noted that he is regarded as "one of the top football referees of all time". Patrick Paul Collins (born 4 February 1985) is a professional footballer. Six months of academy football and he earned his first of 20 England caps with the u'17's. His first game was against Portugal in which they drew 1–1, with Collins scoring England's goal. Chances of first team football were restricted at Sunderland and although Collins (who was urgently called back from International duty with England in Egypt) was named in the first team squad for an FA cup match against Blackburn, he had to leave in order to play in a first team environment. In 2004 Collins left Sunderland and after trials with Birmingham City and Celtic, signed for Sheffield Wednesday with the ambitions of playing in front of 25,000 people every week. Patrick Andrew Collins (March 12, 1844 – September 13, 1905) was an American politician lawyer who served as mayor of Boston and as a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts. Biography Early life Collins was born March 12, 1844, near Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland. His family emigrated to the United States and settled in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in 1848 after the death of his father. Collins attended public schools until the age of 12. He then worked at various trades in Massachusetts and Ohio. At age 15, he returned to Boston and learned the upholstery trade. Working in an upholstery shop, he rose to position of foreman and became active in the trade union movement. He became a secretary of his union and a delegate to the Trades Assembly. Patrick Collins (1911–1994) was one of Ireland's foremost painters of the 20th century. He was elected HRHA (Honorary Member of the Royal Hibernian Academy) in 1980 and a member of the artists' academy Aosdána in 1981. He had a major retrospective exhibition hosted by Ireland's Arts Council (Cork, Belfast, Dublin) in 1982. Several solo exhibitions followed, including a Retrospective at Sligo Art Gallery in 1985. Two years later, Collins was the first visual artist to be honoured with the accolade ''Saoi'' by Aosdána, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the visual arts in Ireland. Patrick Collins (born 12 September 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a goalkeeper for club side Ballinhassig, university side Cork Institute of Technology and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Early life Collins was born and raised in Ballinhassig, County Cork. His father, Pat Collins, began the family's association with goalkeeping by lining in that position for the Ballinhassig club. Collins's brothers, Michael, Matthew and Ger, have all lined out for Cork in various grades of hurling, while his sister, Caitríona, won an All-Ireland ICC title with the Cork intermediate camogie team in 2018.
