Patrick Branco
Patrick Pihana Branco (born April 28, 1987) is an American lawmaker and a member of the Democratic Party who served as the State Representative for District 50 (Kailua and Kāne‘ohe Bay) on the island of Oʻahu. He was elected in November 2020 and served until the end of his term in November 2022. Prior to his time in the Hawaiʻi State House of Representatives, Branco worked as a U.S. Diplomat in Colombia, Pakistan, Venezuela and Washington, D.C. He entered the U.S. Foreign Service through the Congressman Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship program. He was the first Rangel Fellow from Hawaiʻi and the first Native Hawaiian selected for the program. Cynthia Thielen
Cynthia Henry Thielen (born September 22, 1933) is an American politician who served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives representing District 50, the Kailua and Kaneohe Bay areas of Oahu County. A Republican, she served in the state House of Representatives from 1990 until 2020. She served as minority floor leader from 1992 to 1997 and was the assistant minority leader at the time of her retirement. She was the Republican nominee for United States Senate in 2006, challenging incumbent Democrat Daniel Akaka. She lost to Akaka, 62% to 38%, in the general election. Jill Tokuda
Jill Naomi Tokuda (born March 3, 1976) is an American businesswoman and politician serving as the U.S representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district since 2023. Tokuda represented the 24th district in the Hawaii Senate from 2006 to 2018. Background and education Tokuda was born and raised in Hawaii. She is a fourth-generation Japanese American. Tokuda earned her BA in international relations with a minor in Japanese studies from George Washington University. Hawaii's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It is currently represented by Kai Kahele, who succeeded Tulsi Gabbard following the 2020 election. The district encompasses all rural and most suburban areas of Oahu/ Honolulu County, as well as the entire state outside of Oahu. Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) is a "nonprofit, nonpartisan educational and professional organization dedicated to building leadership and public policy knowledge within the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community." Kamehameha Schools
Kamehameha Schools, formerly called Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate (KSBE), is a private school system in Hawaii established by the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate, under the terms of the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was a formal member of the House of Kamehameha. Bishop's will established a trust called the "Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate" that is Hawaii's largest private landowner. Originally established in 1887 as an all-boys school for native Hawaiian children, it shared its grounds with the Bishop Museum. After it moved to another location, the museum took over two school halls. Kamehameha Schools opened its girls' school in 1894. It became coeducational in 1965.
