Patchwork (2021 Film)
''Patchwork'' is a 2021 drama film directed by Petros Charalambous and co-directed by Janine Teerling, who also wrote the film's screenplay. The film stars Angeliki Papoulia as Chara, a woman struggling with the pressures imposed by motherhood. ''Patchwork'' was produced by AMP Filmworks, a Cypriot production company, in collaboration with the Israeli company Transfax Film Productions and the Slovenian production company Perfo Production. Premise Chara (Papoulia) struggles with anxiety as she and her husband Andreas (Tselepos) raise their six-year-old daughter, Sophia. Much of the distress stems from Chara's own childhood, as she is reluctant for her mother to meet Sophia. Angeliki Papoulia
Angeliki Papoulia (; born 1975) is a Greek actress and theatre director. In film, she is most notable for her roles in ''Dogtooth'', ''Alps'' and ''The Lobster'' by Yorgos Lanthimos, and '' A Blast'' and ''The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea'' by Syllas Tzoumerkas. For her part in ''Dogtooth'' she was awarded with a Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actress (together with Mary Tsoni). Life and career Papoulia was born in 1975 in Athens, Greece. She graduated from the Embros drama school. Right after her graduation she collaborated with Greek theatre directors Michail Marmarinos, Lefteris Voyatzis and Yannis Houvardas in various performances, most notably ''National Anthem'', ''School of Women'', and ''Romeo and Juliet''. The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF), is a film festival held annually in Los Angeles, United States which showcases films and filmmakers from Greece, Cyprus and the rest of the world in the US. Since its inception in 2007, LAGFF has screened over 520 films and hosted and supported over 500 filmmakers. The 55th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival took place from August 20 to August 28, 2021, in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
