Pat Wellington
Pat J. Wellington (29 July 1953 – 12 July 1987) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. Wellington played as a forward and was recruited to the Des Tuddenham led Essendon from Hopetoun. Known for his high flying marks, he kicked 21 goals in 1973, five of those in a win over Footscray at Western Oval. With his VFL career ending in 1976, Wellington continued his football career at VFA club Yarraville in 1977. He then moved to Pennant Hills in Sydney before heading further north to Queensland and joining Southport Southport is a seaside town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside, England. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 90,336, making it the eleventh most populous settlement in North West England. Southport lies on the Iris .... Essendon Football Club
The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. The club’s first recorded game took place on 7 June 1873 against a Carlton Second 20. From 1878 until 1896, the club played in the Victorian Football Association then joined seven other clubs in October 1896 to form the breakaway Victorian Football League (later changed to AFL in 1990).
