Pat Liney
Patrick Liney (14 July 1936 – 10 August 2022) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played for clubs in both Scotland and England for Dalry Thistle, Dundee, St Mirren, Bradford Park Avenue and Bradford City. Born in Paisley, Liney was Dundee's first-choice goalkeeper during their 1961–62 Scottish Division One season, in which Dundee won the only league championship in the club's history. A vital part of achieving this goal, league-winning teammate Alan Gilzean stated of him that "Pat Liney's contribution to Dundee's Championship season should never be underestimated and the fact that he was an ever present that year speaks for itself. Paisley, Renfrewshire
Paisley ( ; sco, Paisley, gd, Pàislig ) is a large town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Located north of the Gleniffer Braes, the town borders the city of Glasgow to the east, and straddles the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde. Valley Parade
Valley Parade, known as the University of Bradford Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is an all-seater football stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Built in 1886, it was the home of Manningham Rugby Football Club until 1903, when they changed code from rugby football to association football and became Bradford City. It has been Bradford City's home since, although it is now owned by former chairman Gordon Gibb's pension fund. It has also been home to Bradford (Park Avenue) for one season, and Bradford Bulls rugby league side for two seasons, as well as host to a number of England youth team fixtures. Football architect Archibald Leitch was commissioned to redevelop the ground when Bradford City were promoted to the First Division in 1908. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. Bert Slater
Robert Slater (5 May 1936 – 21 July 2006) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Slater played for Falkirk, Liverpool, Dundee and Watford during the 1950s and 1960s. He also played once for the Scotland under-23 team. Life and playing career Born in Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland, Slater started his career as a 17-year-old at Falkirk. He won a Scottish Cup winners medal in 1957 and made his debut in front of a 90,000 predominantly Rangers crowd. Liverpool signed him in exchange for Tommy Younger on 12 June 1959. The Scottish League Cup (also known as the Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a football competition open to all Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) clubs. First held in 1946–47, it is the oldest national League Cup in existence. The competition had a straight knockout format but became a group and knockout competition from 2016–17. Rangers are the record holders of the cup, winning 27 times. Celtic are the holders, winning their 20th title after beating Hibernian 2–1 at Hampden Park on 19 December 2021.
