Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Surakarta (), commonly known as Persis Solo, is an Indonesian football club based in the Central Java city of Surakarta. Founded on 8 November 1923 as ''Vorstenlandschen Voetbal Bond'' (English: Royal Football Union; abbreviated as VVB), it was officially renamed to its current brand in 1935. Persis returned to top-flight football after a decade in 2022 following its success in winning the 2021 Liga 2 title. The club plays its Liga 1 home games at Manahan Stadium, which has a capacity of 20,000 spectators. Kangjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkunegara I, also known as Pangeran Sambernyawa ("''Life Reaping Prince''"), his birth name was Raden Mas Said (April 7, 1725 – December 28, 1795), established the Puro Mangkunegaran, in Surakarta, Java Island. Thus, he was the first ruler of The Principality of Mangkunegaran. Gregory Junior Nwokolo (born 3 January 1986) is a former footballer who played as a forward. Born in the Nigeria, he represents the Indonesia national team. Club career Greg began his career in Asia with Tampines Rovers. After that, in 2004 he signed for Young Lions. He left them in the same year to move to the Indonesian club, Persijatim Solo. Perserikatan was the national amateur football competitions in Indonesia held between 1931 and 1994 before the formation of Liga Indonesia, organized by the PSSI, the Indonesian football federation. The competition involved hundreds clubs in Indonesia and was divided into several levels. In English, the term ''Perserikatan'' may literally translate to ''inter-association football championship'' as this competition involved all regional-level football associations in Indonesia.
