Pashupati
Paśupati (, ) is a form of the Hindu deity Śiva, in his benign aspect as the five-faced herdsman of all creatures. Paśupati is traditionally considered to be the guardian deity of Nepal, described in texts such as the ''Nepāla Māhātmya'', found in regional versions of the '' Skanda Purāṇa''. Etymology ''Paśupati'' means "lord of the animals". ''Paśu'' indicates animal as well as a follower of Shiva. It was an epithet of Rudra in the Vedic period and is one of the epithets of Shiva. Pashupatinagar ( Nepali:पशुपतिनगर) is a settlement in Bardibas Municipality, Ward No.9 in Mahottari District in the Madhesh Province of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3,241 people living in 561 individual households. Pashupatinagar is situated 10 kilometers south of Bardibas.
