Pascow
Pascow is a German punk band from Gimbweiler in Rheinland-Pfalz founded in 1998. Pascow has released seven studio albums. Their first three albums were released on the :de:Plastic Bomb, Plastic Bomb label, associated with the fanzine of the same name. Their last four albums have been released on the indie label :de:Rookie Records, Rookie Records, which has also released records from Spermbirds, Bambix, and :de:Love A, Love A. Their most recent album, ''Sieben'', reached 5th place in the German album charts in 2023. Style Pascow has its musical roots in the German punk scene, which is defined by fast-paced music and German-language lyrics. In particular, Pascow's lyrics have been influenced by Deutschpunk bands like Knochenfabrik, Duesenjaeger, Turbostaat, and Dackelblut, as well as the later work of Die Goldenen Zitronen. Pet Sematary
''Pet Sematary'' is a 1983 horror novel by American writer Stephen King. The novel was nominated for a World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1984, and adapted into two films: one in 1989 and another in 2019. Background In 1979, King was writer-in-residence at the University of Maine and the house his family was renting in Orrington, Maine, was adjacent to a major road where dogs and cats were often killed by oncoming trucks. After his daughter's cat was killed by a truck along that road, he explained the death of the pet to his daughter and buried the cat. Three days later, King imagined what would happen if a family suffered the same tragedy but the cat came back to life. He then imagined what would happen if that family's young son were also killed by a passing truck. He decided to write a book based on these ideas, and that the book would be a re-telling of "The Monkey's Paw" (1902), a short story by W. W. Deutschpunk
German punk includes a body of music and a subculture that have evolved since punk rock became popular in Germany in the 1970s. Bambix
Bambix is a Dutch punk band founded in Nijmegen in 1988. Their music can also be categorized as riot grrrl or queercore. Their music is melodic punk, driven by female vocals. Bambix has been indexed as a significant musical export of the Netherlands. Bambix has named Propaghandi, NOFX, Dixie Chicks, Leonard Cohen, Mary Black, Indigo Girls, Michelle Shocked, and early Eagles as musical influences. Gimbweiler is an '' Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Birkenfeld, whose seat is in the like-named town. Charles Bukowski
Henry Charles Bukowski ( ; born Heinrich Karl Bukowski, ; August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was a German Americans, German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his adopted home city of Los Angeles. Bukowski's work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. ''Ox-Fanzine'' is a monthly punk zine from Solingen, Germany, founded in 1988. It is edited by Joachim Hiller and has had many contributors. Besides its focus on punk subculture, it also covers similar genres, reviews of comics, books and films, and has included serial novels by authors such as Klaus N. Frick. By 2019, ''Ox'' had a circulation of 10,000 copies. History ''Ox-Fanzine'' was founded in 1988 by Joachim Hiller and Biggi Häußler in Heidenheim an der Brenz (Southern Germany). Its first issue was published in January 1989. The zine was named after the cat of Häußler, which appeared on the first cover. After some time, ''Ox'' merged with the zine ''Faces the Facts'' and was joined by its editor Thomas Hähnel, but eventually Häußler and Hähnel left it to focus on other endeavours, leaving Hiller as the only editor. Gluecifer
Gluecifer is a Norwegian hard rock band based in Oslo. Formed in 1994, the band gained fame as a part of the Scandinavian hard rock wave in the late 1990s and early 2000s alongside Turbonegro and The Hellacopters. Gluecifer released five studio albums before disbanding in 2005 and later reuniting in 2017. History In 1997, the album ''Ridin' the Tiger'' (released on record label White Jazz) provided an artistic and commercial breakthrough and placed Gluecifer along Hellacopters from Sweden at the forefront of the Scandinavian hard rock wave of the late 1990s. ''Basement Apes'', their fourth album, saw them signing with Sony Music, and ''Automatic Thrill'' became their biggest-selling record to date.
