Parrearra is a suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Parrearra had a population of 4,468 people. Parrearra is located within the Kawana Waters urban area and is informally referred to as Kawana Island. Geography The suburb is bounded to the west by the Mooloolah River, to the north by Nicklin Way, to the north-east by the Parrearra Canal, to the south-east and south by the Wyuna Canal, making the suburb an island. The canals combined are unofficially known as Parrearra Lake. The primary purpose of the canals together with the associated locks and weirs is for flood mitigation in the Kawana Waters area, while recreational use of the waterways is a secondary purpose. Kawana Waters is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, between Caloundra and Maroochydore along the Coral Sea coast. It was originally the estate development name and has passed into common usage, but it is not officially a town nor a locality. Kawana is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. Based on the Sunshine Coast, the district has been held by both sides of politics over its short history. Geography A coastal urban electorate lying to the east of the Bruce Highway, Kawana includes the suburbs of Kawana Waters, Sippy Downs, Minyama, Buddina, Parrearra, Warana, Bokarina and Birtinya. Geography Warana is located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. The western boundary of Warana follows the Mooloolah River and the middle of Wyuna Canal. Nicklin Way
Nicklin Way (SR6) is a major road in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is named after former Queensland Premier Frank Nicklin, who opened the road on 5 June 1965. It runs from the southern end of the Sunshine Motorway at Mooloolaba in the north to Caloundra in the south, with the route signed as State Route 6. With the population of Sunshine Coast growing quickly, the road is often prone to congestion. Bokarina is a coastal suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia, located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. In the , Bokarina had a population of 1,351 people. History The name ''Bokarina'' was bestowed at the request of the land developer, Alfred Grant Pty Ltd, in the belief that the name was an Aboriginal expression indicating ''middle'' i.e. half-way along the Kawana Waters land-development scheme in 1969.
